Why does Pages quit unexpectedly while using the SFWordProcessing plugin?

After installing Snow Leopard, Pages will not open a saved document used in Leopard, due to the above error notice. Anyone else have this problem? (with hopefully a fix.) Thanks

I'm sure hat I ran it under 10.4.11.

Honestly, I made so many switches between the two machines today that I don't remember if I ran it under 10.6.

Now it's late and I'm tired.
I ill switch off.

If it's not already done, it's due to the swedish oddity described in an other thread.

I will check tomorrow and when I will be sure that it works also under 10.6, I will upload the beast on my idisk so that everybody will be free from typos (except mines).

I grabbed the script from this thread
pasted it in a new Script Editor Window
It compiled flawlessly
It ran flawlessly.

I copied it on my 10.6 machine.
It compiled flawlessly
It ran flawlessly.

It's now available on my idisk:

As it is dedicated to Pages documents, it requires Pages installed.
As Pages and Numbers are parts of the same package, I felt free to call Numbers on exit to display the grabbed datas.

I'm a bit reluctant to admit that in the Cafology's document, Hoefler is the culprit.
I think that it's just the item which brings to the surface the true oddity.

This morning I built a huge Pages document using Hoefler Text size 12.

Working on this document is awfully slow but it behaves flawlessly.

It's only when the doc reached 49,062,626 characters (42,590,166 without the spacechars) that it became unable to save.

All of them are Hoefler Text size 12.

We are far above the 274kb / 250kb Cafology's text file.

I must add that I am glad to say that Randy is able to open the doc which I repaired.

Having the same problem. Was using a pages-document on 10.5.8; hoefler text 11, embedded pictures, 11,2 mb. On Snow Leopard it crashes every time I try to open it. Really frustrating, especially as this document is of great importance.

Will this be fixed with the 10.6.1-patch? I've sent ten million crash-reports, just hoping this will be attended to.

Due to the work that Yvon did, I decided to "turn off" Hoefler font in FontBook. When I opened my document, it opened with Lucinda. I then selected all of the text and changed it to Cochin (11). Now, things are working fine. Cochin has the same font size as Hoefler, and is easy to read. When I open my document, there is no longer the error message about SFWordProcessing plugin. I'm happy for the time being. I hope that the bug can be corrected.

Send it to my mailbox.
I will check the way it behaves here and if it fails, I will replace Hoefler text by Cochin (11) so you will be able to read it until a system's correction.

Good news.

Replacing the Hoefler Text font delivered with Snow Leopard by the old one borrowed from my 10.4.11 system,
I was able to open your document under 10.6.1.

So, for those who are bored by the Hoefler behavior under Snow, I put the 'old' version on my idisk.

Download
For_iWork:Hoefler.zip
compress the new one (version 6.1d6e1 2009/07/16) from the Finder menu
replace the font itself by the one which will be given after double clicking the downloaded file.

CAUTION: in the archive you will find the font grabbed from 10.4.11
and the one grabbed from 10.5

I tested with the 10.4.11 one but I'm quite sure that the one from 10.5 is OK too.

Hello Mr Cafology, am'I always useless ?
