Multiplexing error in iDVD

I've read some of the other posts about this, but none mentioned the same symptoms I'm having.

iDVD throws a multiplexing error if I have chapters in my video. If I remove the chapters in iMovie and then use iDVD to burn, it works great. But adding the chapters back into the movie (in iMovie), then burning using iDVD causes Multiplexing.

How do I resolve this? I need my movies to have chapters!

Glad to see you resolved the issue. I too have been battling this problem for a couple of weeks to no avail. Could you further explain the resolution or perhaps share a screenshot (if that is even possible in this forum??). I have done just about everything I can think of to resolve this but can't find the solution. What is strange, is I have two projects I am attempting to burn. Both of which I have removed the chapter markers completely. I have 45Gb free on the startup drive and all updates have been installed. I have burned 30+ projects with no issues until two weeks ago. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Somebody should write an AppleScript/Automator file that trashes your iDVD preferences file, repairs permissions and restarts your computer before burning a dual-layer disc with iDVD.

I get the multiplexing error more than half the time I try to burn a disc after waiting for 5 hours for the files to process. After I take the above steps it works just fine.

Good idea. At the same time I'll suggest that they put the "play all" feature back into future versions of iDVD instead of the newer way of doing it, which is to create chapters in iMovie and then export the project to iDVD.

I liked the old way better of doing it directly in iDVD. Much easier.

BTW, today I tried burning a full dual-layer DVD without trashing the preferences, repairing permissions and restarting the computer.

The good news is that I didn't get the Multiplexing Error.

The bad news is that it did the other very annoying thing iDVD does every so often...eject the disc while it's burning and freeze the program.

So I had to take all the stupid little steps again to reset it, then it worked fine.

In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.

Where do you go to see where the Chapters are on the same line? Is it in iDVD? is it in iMovie? How did trimming a little of the film correct this??? My dad is having a similar problem right now.
