HP Laserjet 1010 & Wireless printing via Airport USB - Not working in SL

Hi There,

After just upgrading to Snow Leopard on my MacBook I tried printing wirelessly to my HP Printer, but no luck!

Printer: HP Laserjet 1010
Connected via: Airport with USB cable

Snow Leopard recognises the printer and is fine to print when the printer is connected directly to the MacBook via USB cable, but:

When I set up wireless printing, it finds the printer (via Bonjour) but simply will not print. The print monitor gets to 24% or so of the file processed and then just stops & fails.

Everything was fine under 10.5 Leopard. It seems it should work, but no printing occurs! Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Paul

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6), Airport

Okay, maybe I gave a premature all-clear signal 😟

After setting up the Gutenberg driver on three computers and printing test pages from all those machines, I was out having a coffee. Having returned home, I wanted to print another page from a computer that had already successfully printed a page earlier today.

Well, guess what, it didn't work (without having changed anything about the configuration of course). Instead I was left with this error message:

*Printing page 1, 1%*
*Network host '*+IP address+*' is busy; will retry in* xx seconds...

Now that I power-cycled my AEBS, I can print again. I wonder how long though ...

Maybe printing from a different computer disables other computers accessing the printer on the same network?! No matter what triggers this new problem, it's pretty annoying.

I had the same problem after installing SL.

Tried everything from driver updates to power cycling everything. Firmware on my AE was up to date. Nothing worked. SL 10.6.1 update also didn't fix it.

What finally helped was to completely reset (not just restart) *the AE*! After that I added the printer again and wireless printing was back.
Don't forget to check the WAN checkbox in the printer tab of the airport utility and enable for network in printing & fax settings.

Hope this works for u 2

As for me, no power-cycling, nor resetting helped. in the end, i followed one hint in this thread and changed radio mode to 802.11 b in the airport utility's wireless tab. my printer immediately started printing what was left in the queue. i then changed radio mode to 802.11 g and back again to b/g combined. It still worked using the other radio modes. So, it seems like once the system sucessfully recognized the printer and was able to actually print, the original settings can be restored without losing functionality again. Yet, I'm not sure if only this did the trick. Previous steps might have helped resolving the problem.
I use a new MacBook Pro running SnowLeopard 10.6.1, an AirPort Express Base Station running (supposedly the latest) firm ware 6.3 and an hp laserjet 1010.
