Cricket A600 USB Broadband Modem and Snow Leopard

I just bought the Cricket A600 USB Broadband Modem and am able to use it on my Dell laptop and on my 13 inch Mac Book Aluminum in Parallels/Windows XP. However, in Snow Leopard the modem is not recognized. Please help!

This is great for a fresh install. I used it and it works like a charm. Thanks.

But what if you upgraded to Snow Leopard? On another machine I cannot get the modem to show up in the "Wireless Networks" box. What can I do after an upgrade from OS X 10.5, in which everything was working fine?

I don't even know how to uninstall the Cricket software to start over.

Thanks

Thanks Jamus. Your video instructions worked for me in Snow Leopard.

However, *Beware Wacom tablet users*. My Intuos 4 tablet is not responding after this process, even after re-installing the driver. The little OLED screens don't light up after login, and the prefpane doesn't see it. However if I log in as a different user, the driver works fine.

Running the Cricket uninstaller does not restore my use of the tablet. Any ideas, Jamus?

I was able to get this method to work. But I had to find the Tiger drivers in the install package built into the A600.

The only thing is after a restart or wake from sleep you have to terminal to the library/extensions and reload the driver and then open the cricket connect app and keep plugging and unplugging the device until it's recognized.

One thing I noticed is that the status and data transfer logs don't work in the cricket connect app. So I wonder if we are still subject to the 5GB monthly cap...

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Well, I finally figured it out!!!

Make this Application using applescript editor: (substitute YOURPW for your system password)

do shell script "chown -R root:wheel /library/extensions/*" password "YOURPW" with administrator privileges
do shell script "chmod -R 0644 /library/extensions/*" password "YOURPW" with administrator privileges
do shell script "kextload -v /library/extensions/*" password "YOURPW" with administrator privileges

Save this file as an Application, on your Desktop for example (or just about anywhere else).
To have this automatically run every time you log in, just add it in your Login Items (Preferences).

* Make sure NOT to connect your modem until after your system has completed the Login completely!! * If you do, you'll have to remove and reconnect the modem again for it to work. Give the modem some time to initialize and be read by the system.
