Can't turn Airport on - Snow leopard

This worked well for me as well. I bought the box set of 10.6/iLife/iWork and installed everything. Seemed to be working fine until I did the update on iWork. Next morning (after a restart) I woke up to no wireless internet and not being able to turn off Airport.

Copied my current location, switched to that, and am now able to turn on Airport. Using OS X 10.6.1.

I'm having this exact same problem with my 2006 MBP and none of these solutions have worked. Every time this happens I have to reboot my machine in order to get wireless back. This is extremely annoying.

Does anyone know if/when a fix is coming for this?

I tried all of those steps and they didn't work for me. Same problem I've been having to begin with. Anyone have a better fix?

I'm having the same problem since buying my MacBook Pro w/Snow Leopard. I bought one on 11/19 and returned it because of the terrible AirPort issues... the new one I got today is having the same problem so I turned here.

Nice to see I'm not the only one, but this is the reason I turned away from PCs - hopefully there's a fix soon.

I had the same issue. However, the suggested solutions didn't help me.
Turned back to 10.5.8. No problems with Airport.

Wow! What a frustrating experience. Thank you very much for the above instructions. I did nix the files located in System Config and established a new location and presto! I did not find it necessary to reboot. I have been at this for a week and about ready to reinstall everything when I found this forum. Out of all of the various recommendations the 'new location' seemed to be the ticket. Thanks again to all those who have contributed.
