HP PSC 2410 All-in-one scan function

I have had a PSC 2410 for many years now and it was working on my old PowerBook running 10.4. When I upgraded to 10.5 I lost the ability to scan -- I was told it was because I did a clean install and HP's installer does not run in 10.5. I have since changed computers (MBP with 10.5 preinstalled) and have not been able to scan with HP software on 10.5 or 10.6.

The only solution I have found to work is VueScan (though I don't like the software). Some people have tried SANE, but I have not had any success. I am still waiting for a better solution...

At the moment there are no built in Scan drivers for the PSC 2410 and no plans to support scanning under 10.6. That being said, I have taken note of your request and do what I can.

I have a PSC2410, too. After I installed 10.6 I did not manage to make it work again. Does anyone know a solution? Can the old 10.5 driver be used somehow?

I have a PSC 2410 aswell and dont want to buy a new scanner to use my scanning ability as i know of no way to use HP software to share across macs

My parens also use the PSC2410 (connected to a Time Capsule) with Leopard. I bought a new MBP and the printer does not work anymore. Probably no printer drivers for Snow Leopard. What can I do?

I will not suggest to my parents to update their OS until this problem is solved. Thanks

The printer functionality works without problem on my MBP with 10.6.1. The OS comes prepackaged with print drivers and should autodetect if it is directly connected. Not sure how it works with time capsule though.

My 2410 prints just fine and I can print with it being shared from my Airport Express as well but i cant scan no mater how I set it up. Unless I download some HP software... the route I don't want to take.

Ok guys, where did you get the driver. Problem is every time I try to install the PSC 2410 it says "software not complete" and so it will not work 😉

OR is there a way to get the driver out of the MacBook of my parents? :P

Did you tried the latest HP update released about a day or so ago?

No guarantees, but on some HP AIOs, the scanner works by using Apple's Image Capture program. If not, they may not support Scanning on older AIOs, they haven't supported my 4215 since Leopard. Printing still seems to be supported. Strange, but on Leopard, I got my 4215 to work using a newer HP scanning application for another HP printer. So far I haven't got SN to scan on my 4215.

The PSC 2410 is still supported with Print only functionality. That being said, there is quite a bit of progress being made on the Scan drivers. I am still not going to commit to delivering them until I know for sure we can, but my guess is if no problems crop up you will see them, and with any luck it will be next month sometime.

@Andrew Is that right? And here I was thinking I should write off HP after the last few years of annoyances. Good to hear. Thanks for that.

@Zen5656 Those print drivers are preinstalled with Leopard/Snow Leopard. When I plug in my printer directly, it is autodetected.

ok downloaded the lastest driver package (2.2) and now it works. Thanks!

The scan drivers for the HP PSC 2410 are not yet available. So the now it works can not mean scanning. They have passed testing and should be available within a month. Once I get an update on that I'll let you know.
