HP PSC 2410 All-in-one scan function

Hi,
before buying OS 10.6 I'd like to know whether it's able to use the HP PSC 2410 scan function. Don't want to spend money for a new printer. With Leopard 10.5.8 it's running fine with the old HP driver downloaded from HPs web side. Even if it was marked as print support only by Apple as it is now again for Snow Leopard.

1.) Does anyone has scanned with the PSC2410 under Snow Leopard?

or

2.) Is it possible to test upfront before buying Snow Leopard?

MacBook Air 1,6 Mhz, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I saw they released new HP drivers today, but scanning for the PSC 2410 was not listed. Is it likely that this may still be coming?

Hi,

at least on my Mac it was easy. I downloaded and installed the driver software package for OS X 10.3/ 10.4 from here:

The HP ScanPro progam is working fine. Didn't try any other software.

I'm having similar problems with HP LJ3055 which worked fine with all functions before getting the new iMac w/ Snow Leopard. Apparently the driver downloads aren't supporting this all in one and no word on when new drivers will be available that do work. Question is will there be new drivers or do I lose this all in one?

I think HP's silence on this since October is because they've screwed up badly on this one - the updates on their site still don't work in 10.6

I used to always purchase HP's but have now moved to Canon's after similar problems to this keep happening, in particular perfectly good printers that stop working when HP stop keeping the drivers current, so the operational lifetime of an HP - even though its probably a physically better printer - ends up being less than a Canon.

All,

finally I've Snow Leopard with the PSC2410 running. The scan function is limited but it works for me. It is possible to scan in three differnet ways:
* Preview
* Image Capture-program
* System settings > Printer und Fax

The detailed description can be found on the HP home page. Search for PSC2410 driver for OS x 10.6.

Backing up what Alexander noted...

I too cannot scan directly from the HP PSC 2410 anymore. However, if I launch Vuescan (I already had a standard copy of it), then I can scan from the HP PSC All-in One director.

Later, when HP has the scanner drivers ready...we should be able to scan as we used to.
