Hey guys, Bit the bullet and bought a nice 23 inch external monitor to use with my 13 inch MacBook Pro. It has internal speakers.. but when i hook it up to the laptop. They are quieter than the measly speakers in the MacBook Pro. I go into sound settings and it says "headphones" how on earth can i make it say "external speakers" or whatever for it to up the power to them? Is there a way or is this just a pipe dream and i should just get some externals? Thanks in advance.

Hi Applephreak: My first guess would be that the speakers in the Acer monitor aren't amplified. Which model of Acer monitor is it? I doubt you will get the MacBook to indicate that anything other than Headphones are plugged in. That is the normal output from the Headphone jack. It will not drive speakers without amplification.
Hi Applephreak: Do you have an iPod that you can hook-up to the speaker input on the Acer monitor? That would eliminate one of the variables. If it works, we can try and determine why the computer doesn't.
no, i havent found any sound controls on the monitor itself. I dont have an ipod but i do have my imac i could see how it sounds from it tomorrow when i get home.
