Wireless Internet Problem With Mac Pro's

Hey guys,
i have a question.

my wireless on my Mac Pro isn't working to well. it drops out a lot and to fix it i just put it to sleep then unsleep it.

i am updated to all my programs. Mac OSX 10.6, Safari 4.0.3. Got big hard drives and all

this is my second mac pro in this house that has done it.

we have about 5 computers in the house that all work perfect (3 laptops, 2 desktops)

just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem or how i can fix it. and ps i'm like a door away from the Airport. & this has been happening before 10.6

Take a look at this, after suffering for a while of the same symptoms I decided to dedicate a couple of hours to search for this and here it is:

Personally mine were wrong: 3 on top 1 on bottom and 2 dangling (Switched 3 and 1 around and voila)

Both my MBP's were blazing always but my Pro was too slow even browsing each other via network.

Speedtest.net before the change reported like 5MB down and not even close to 1MB up (I have the comcast 16MB plan)

Now it boosts up to 22MB down and 3MB up

Hope this helps someone.

Thomas,

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately, this means I have to buy another airport card and that is basically what is irritating me about everything. I don't understand why I have to buy new equipment to have the same functionality as an old G4, which just so happens to not have the same issues as the new intel tower or laptop. I feel like I'm being forced to spend money I don't have to spend just so I can use my $3000+ computer to surf the internet. When I spend that much money on something, I expect it to work.

I have been dicussing this issue with Apple for over a year and 1/2.... they even had me buy a NEW airport extreme router, change channels, 100's of hrs. on the phone, etc. Now my warranty is up and they still don't know what to do. I have had my machine into the Genius Bar and they have run every Apple test known to man or woman and it still doesn't hold a wifi signal. I have had this machine in the Apple store shop in Calif. since January.... I need to get back to business making music.
It seems that as they kept upgrading their operating system that they created this wifi problem.... also, a fix would seem to be, create an EXTERNAL antenna like the old G4 and G5. This metal case is pretty, but seems to have something to do with the problem.
Come on Steve Jobs, Apple techs, and the rest of the crew.... do something.... no more excuses and feeble tries at fixes.
I'm having to type this discussion post from my MacBook.... which, by the way, has no problems at all.

Hey,
Just to add another to the seemingly endless list of people who have encountered this problem, I too am having this issue.

My Mac Pro desktop randomly drops connection to a very low signal strength or drops it completely. I don't understand what could be doing this.
My Macbook Pro laptop is sitting in the same room right next to the desktop computer and it has perfect signal strength and speed.

I asked Apple and they said that it was due to my internet connection or my router, but why would my laptop, and the 4 other Mac laptops AND the PC desktop (I cringe to say) in our household receive good signals?

I even had the ISP run a number of tests on their service from their end, come out to our house and run tests on our lines, ran tests on the router, and all proved that it WAS NOT the ISP or the router.

Interference or distance from the router is not an issue as I'm one of the closest to the wireless router, and my Macbook Pro can even pick up the signal from across the street from our house!

HELP!

It seems that no one is able to answer or correct this apparent FLAW in this otherwise amazing computer system!

I LOVE Apple products but this issue is extremely frustrating!!

I was having this issue with my brand new mac in the previous months. After trying everything I could imagine, I determined it was a compatibility issue with the N type wireless card in the macs and my wireless modem. I was constantly told this shouldn't be an issue but it is. I bought a Cisco Wireless N router for $60 and hooked it up. It has been over a month and no issues at all.
