I have always had superb results with the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 (A3), until I installed Snow Leopard - now I cannot get a decent photograph no matter how much I tinker with the settings. I am using the recommended driver.
Thanks so much. This was an "open box" purchase of a returned printer, but it never occurred to me that the heads would already be clogged! I tried using the cleaning utility, but it was unable to get the heads cleaned. So, I think that I am going to return this one and buy one that has not been used. This is still the printer I want.
Keep us posted. Don't forget when using this printer from Aperture (or from Photoshop) to turn Off Color controls, so that Aperture and not the printer driver controls color.
Well, Siomn from Suffolk, I followed the instructions in your post, to the letter, (even sacrificing the drivers of my old SP1290) BUT the end result was worse than the starting point, in that I had an error message when trying to print:-
"Offline, you need to install software to use this printer...etc."
So: bad result for R1900, OSX10.6.2
Sorry
I'm having the opposite problem, since going to OSX 10.6.2 and Drivers 6.62 for the Epson R1900 my print have been a little over saturated printing from CS4 using the Premium profiles.
The prints use to be spot on using 10.6.1 and R1900 drivers 6.20.
I tried going back to using the 6.20 drivers but still the same a little over saturated.
So now back to using OSX 10.6.2 and R1900 drivers 6.62 😟
I followed these instructions to install the Epson 6.52 drivers
My driver shows Epson SP R1900 (1) under the print with setting when showing the driver properties, but seems to be printing OK.
Hi, Thanks for the advice on the printer driver for the Epson R1900 and 2400 models. The fix you posted worked like a charm. I appreciate the feed.
