how do I turn off subtitles for .mkv files?

When I play .mkv files in quicktime, it automatically plays the subtitle files. When I go to View>Subtitles, it indicates that the subtitles are "off." The same .mkv files play fine in VLC (I am able to turn the subtitles on and off with no problem).

15" Unibody MBP, Mac OS X (10.6)

Hi,
I don't know if this will help with subtitles in .mkv files, but someone has just brought out an app that will toggle hidden Quicktime prefs. including subtiles.
