Mac mini and Tiger

Hello.
I purchased MacMini 3.1 and would like to install Mac OS 10.4 on it. Before I had MacMini 1.1 and MacMini 2.1 having no problems with installing and using Tiger on them. However, when I try to load Tiger on the latest MacMini, kernel panic is reported.
I have Tiger installed on external drive and it doesn’t load from it. The same happens when I try to load using installation CD.
Is there any trick to make Tiger load on new MacMini?

MacMini, Mac OS X (10.4.11), macmini3.1

As a rule of thumb, you cannot install a system on a machine if it is an earlier version than the one that shipped with it. For example, some iMac G5's shipped with 10.4.2 on them. This means that the retail install disc for Tiger (10.4.1.) will not work, because it is an earlier system. You must use either the original install discs included with the machine, or a retail install disc for a later system (10.5).

In your case, the only supported OS's are Leopard and Snow Leopard. The Tiger DVD can't install onto a disk with a GUID partition table (Intel machines). Why would you want to downgrade anyways?

true.

this would be true with the original retail disk. gray back system disk that shipped with Intel macs can & do install on GUID just fine.

This is true, therefore, the only way to install Tiger on an Intel machine is if 1) your machine shipped with Tiger originally and 2) if you have the original install discs. This obviously excludes the OP.
