How do I erase contacts on my SIM card?

I upgraded from an original iPhone to a 3GS. Afterwards it seems that I have duplicate contacts because my SIM has contacts stored on it. How do I erase the SIM card so I don't have this problem with duplication?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The iPhone does not store any contacts on it's SIM card. Are you syncing contacts from two sources at once, for example using MobileMe and also syncing from your computer's address book?

As provided, there are no contacts on your SIM card.

The duplicate contacts issued has been asked and answered on these forums many times.

You can do a forum search and find out more.
