Macally RFKey Keyboard Does Not Work / How to reset mac drivers?
Hello all. First post here, as I just can't work around this myself.
My original mac keyboard broke rather quickly, so I dropped some money for a Macally wireless RFKeyboard. I thought I was getting a good deal, until I realized that these kb's don't have driver support for Intel macs. This is so counter-intuitive to me that I just didn't even think about it; live and learn.
I tried installing mac drivers from macally hoping they might work anyway, which may have been a big mistake. I removed them.
Here are the issues I'm experiencing;
1. I cannot type many capital letters or capital forms of many keys.
2. The USB keyboard receiver is constantly blinking, so it thinks the keyboard is continually sending data to the mac (it is). This disables the screensaver/sleep mode.
3. The box in the keyboard preferences that lets you set F-keys as normal keys has disappeared, which suggests some driver is messing with my OS.
Things I've tried-
1. The transmitter is far away from all devices.
2. I have not spilled anything on this keyboard. 😉
3. Shutting off, Rebooting and unplugging too many times to say.
4. Alt-option P+R to reset RAms. This probably doesn't work because the key combinations themselves can't be made on my keyboard due to above issues.
5. Removing all visual record of the drivers I installed.
6. Resetting all defaults wherever I can find them in keyboard preferences.
Can anyone help me out? There must be some command strings that allow me to get everything back to mac defaults. I might be getting a new mac keyboard from apple, though I don't particularly like how fragile and expensive they are. I still need to use this one for my work.
