Lexmark C500 Printer & Snow Leopard

Hi,

I've always had trouble getting this printer to work with my iMac. Never again will I buy a Lexmark printer, but I am determined to use what I have. Can anyone help me?

I emailed them for support and they tell me to use the 10.6.0 install disk to get their drivers. However the Options Package freezes with 2 minutes to go, and I have to Force Quit. Tried a couple of times with same result.

Lexmark's website shows no support for 10.6.0 for the C500. I've had this printer about 18 months, managed to print 455 pages back in Leopard. It's connected via USB and I can see it from Print & Fax.

It's been a wonderful paper weight > Cheers

iMac Intel 2.4 GHz, 3 GB memory, 667 MHz, Mac OS X (10.6)

Hi,

I have been having the exact same problems with my Lexmark C500. I contacted their technical support who were useless, and gave me a link to a thread:

This did not work for me. Trying to install the printer via network. The IP is correct, and have installed the drivers as required, but they do not show up in the list of available printers. I had the exact same problem with OSX 10.5, but was able to use Appletalk then, which is not available anymore in OSX 10.6.

I will never buy Lexmark either! Poor drivers, slow updates and poor support. Just poor all around!

I'm having the exact same problem. I emailed the support, but they did't answered me, now I know why.

Hi Eddy,

your right about the poor support. I've been searching the net for some new information, but no result yet. Downloaded new Lexmark drivers yesterday from Apple, but still haven't installed them ... here's the link. Might be the answer to our problems.

Did this solution work? I downloaded and installed it but it didn't seem to work. I tried to use the Lexmark 510 driver but that didn't work either. Maybe I'm just installing it incorrectly...

Same Problem here.
The Printer Lexmark C500n does not work. I have tried it in every possible way.
Neither direkt via USB nor via LPD or IPP the Lexmark C500 does not print.
The Lexmark 510 PPD file also did not work.
And to install the original (Leopard) Software from Lexmark for the C500n created an error
during the attempt to print.

Maybe someone has an idea?

Same problem. My Lexmark c500 doesn't work with Snow Leopard. From the beginning I have had many problems with this printer. Bad choice.

Yes, I tried the update and still the same result of NO printing. I also tried the 510 driver option.

I did follow the instructions from a 'Trouble Shooting' solution on Lexmark's website and printed out the Network config page from the printer controls and typed in the IP Address into my web browser '169.254.87.86'. A message came up saying 'It Works!' (This was a solution for 10.5.8 but I tried it anyway.)

But nothing works, as we all know.

I will send in another complaint to Lexmark's online support and see what wisdom they come up with this time.

Same problem, it was very hard to make it work with previous Leopard, but now it seems impossible, if you haven't tried, don't. I have lost myself 6 hours on this. Let just hope Lexmark makes a new driver for us.

I managed to download the software ok and install it ok, I have a Lexmark All-in-one 6690. But now when i print I do not have any printer settings. I cannot select any level of printing i.e. draft, economy etc. How do I know that the printer is using the correct drive and not one installed already on the iMac.

To all of you having problems with the Lexmark C500 printer ... I sent another email to their support website and received an encouraging reply. Lets hope they live up to their word and finally deliver after all our time, energy & money spent on this problem.

I'm in the same boat. I was able to use my c500 in Leopard but in Snow Leopard, nothing works. Somehow i feel a bit better knowing i'm not the only one.. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see whether anyone manages to get it to work.

Well got back in the office today and Yes the Crappy Lexmark C500N Did NOT work.
Gave Lexmark a call(dutch office), well there just not into customers. (in short i could drop Dead)
send them an email and now we will see if this printer makes it to christmas or ..... out the window.
But Lexmark: Never again.

For the rest i'd hope to read some positive news when i get back.
