What??? No new Touch with a camera??

no camera no sell - just adding my vote - I was looking forward to that camera capability - maybe they will come with Camera + GPS in the next one -

Absolutely.
I set my criteria a year ago.
64GB.
I love my 1G Touch, and that's all I wanted - more space.
If the next one shaves my cats and teleports my kids to another timezone, I'm happy with it.
I actually LIKE the Touch due to the lack of ancillary garbage!

I am aware of what many people think of this years' iPod announcements. I too, was ready to buy a new model but have decided to carry on with my 1st gen touch because nothing Apple announced tempted me enough.

However, I also know that coming onto a Support forum and complaining about it is not going to change anything.

These forums are for people to come to to get help with genuine problems with released products. Littering them with complaints about non-released, rumoured features or speculating about future products serves no purpose whatsoever, and is specifically against the Terms of Use we all agreed to when we signed up here.

People don't just "get to be a mod" here. There are Apple employees that do that job - not regular visitors like you and me.

Personal likes or dislikes don't come in to it either. If posts are against the rules set by the owners of this forum (Apple), they are likely to be removed if spotted by the moderators. That's the way it works - if you don't like it, don't participate.

Where are you getting the details about specs of the latest 3 Gen iTouch? Can't find them on the product pages nor the press release even.

So the new 8Gb is basically the same 2 Gen 8Gb but with 256Mb Ram and 3.1 firmware? Only 32Gb and 64Gb get the new processor and graphics chip?

Was wondering what they meant by 'richer graphics' on the 32Gb and 64Gb which they listed separately from the 8Gb.

what i also find annoying as well as the lack of a camera on the ipod touch is also the lack of a radio yet the new nano has both of these???? this is so annoying...

Steve Jobs said in an interview that the reason the iPod touchs don't have a camera was because of hardware issues; they couldn't get it finished in time. But iFixit has taken apart the iPod and found some hidden treats:
-Space for an iPod-nano sized camera
-unused 802.11n chip and FM receiver/transmitter
People are saying that the "Actual" third gen iPod touch will come October 14, because of several iPod touch cases with holes for a camera on Best Buy's website, all with a release date of October 14, ironically the exact date of Apple's October keynote last year. If such an iPod gets released, Apple is expected to release a software update that activates the 802.11n wireless ability, and an FM radio just like the nano, so the "2.5" gen buyers aren't as mad.

By richer graphics, they mean it supports OpenGL ES 2.0, which i'm pretty sure renders the graphics smoothly.
