itunes 9 crash/hang

I'm getting a lot of hanging since I installed itunes 9 as well. It hangs when I want to update my applications and when I connect to my other computer.

Yeah every time I try click on a link like to Smallville Season 9 it crashes! It did it three times already! They need a update!

I'm having the exact same issue. Lots and lots of beachballing, and sometimes it won't recover. Right-clicking on the dock causes audio garble.

(running snow leopard, and listening to pandora.com for awhile)

I've installed iTunes 9 on my 20" iMac running 10.5.8. It crashes every time I open it. So now I have no way to update my iPhone !!!

Same problem. I let it do it's thing until it recovers but then soon as I touch anything (like try to play a song), I get the dreaded beach ball again. According to my activity monitor disk activity I have a lot of data being read (50-60MB/sec) and virtually none being written (0-100KB). iTunes also seems to be using about 20% of the system CPU.

Hangs every singe time on my shiny new MB. Sync iPhone, try to turn on genius, etc.

How the **** did this slip past the testers?!

Having a similar problem. When I start iTunes 9, it says that is adusting the music for gapless play, and every time, somewhere between 500 and the 4700 songs I have, I get a spinning ball that never goes away no matter how long I wait. I cannot even force quit!!! I have to to a hard restart. I have tried this five times now and I cannot seem to avoid the spinning beach ball...

I am having the same symptoms!

Just wanted to add my name to the list.

On my 1-month-old 13" MBP it is becoming unresponsive every 30 seconds or so, all I get is the spinning beach ball. So lame, wanted to sync my iPhone guess I have to wait for a patch now. I hope they get the fix out ASAP.

I am also having this issue with a year old MacBook. Had to force quit iTunes, I hope it didn't tweak the phone mid sync.

A restart of the phone and the MacBook seems to have calmed things down, though I haven't upgraded the iphone to 3.1 yet...

Count me in on this. Installed iTunes 9 on my 24" iMac with 10.6 and every time I plug in my iPhone iTunes hangs. Can't update the phone.

Same problem here on a MBP 2,16 Core Duo .. Snow Leo / Airport / and so on ..
i downgraded again to 8.2.1 thanx TimeMaschine ..

Having the same problems since last night - it just hangs and then crashes reporting an unexpected error and that I need to relaunch it...

Update / Patch seriously needed....
