3.1 Double Clicking trouble

On my 1st gen touch: Since the 3.1 upgrade, when I have music playing, double clicking home still brings up music controls, but when music is not playing nothing happens. Anybody know how to fix this? I can't get music started without closing an app now.

YES, you have helped plenty of folks! No question. What's nice is when that's the main focus. My main focus is to jab at Apple every time they let us down and sadly for us customers, that's been something occurring far too often, as of late. I mean, geez, this wifi issue has persisted for months and now it appears early on that 3.1.1 hasn't fixed it. That really s u c k s, as Touch's aren't trivially cheap. I make no pretense at being an expert at solving others problems--while I do that on rare occasion, I leave that up to others who patrol the forum for questions. 🙂

To sum it up: We're spoiled!
In the worst economy since the Big One, we're worried about THIS?
No matter what companies do - there will always be some of that.
Unavoidable.
The problem with the interwebs is the rumor sites.
They post B-S for hits, and get everyone all riled-up.
Stop looking at those, and reality is much more palatable...

Why the heck did Glen Beck and Keith Olbermann, ummm, I mean you guys, decide to derail this topic??? 😟

Anyhow all non-iPod Touch related matters aside, what are the chances that we can make enough e-noise to get a renowned technology related website to post a short article about this issue? 3.1.1 does correct a few of the bugs that I have experienced in 3.0, so I wouldn't mind if Apple could release an iPod Controls pop-up fix within a months time.

Great to see intelligent posts like yours in this forum.

I thought I didn't know how to adjust some new controls in 3.1.1.

The loss of accessing the music controls is a major let-down. I have sent feedback to Apple via the iPod touch feedback page and hope Apple will bring that function back.

Otherwise I will downgrade if possible.

Sam, we're talking about the same thing, but I brought up two parts of the problem.

I'm aware of the double-clicking issue. You pointed me to this thread, actually.

But I also think that there's an underlying concern that is dated even earlier, which I mentioned if you followed the thread with my response to AAPL, as follows:

"any idea why Apple won't just integrate a function that actually lets us disable app/game sounds in the Settings? Why not let us prioritize our music?"

That's the problem that I brought to Apple in the past. It's an issue I had many people report on as well.

Honestly, I am REALLY hoping Apple fixes the double-click issue, but given my past experience with a related issue that only caused me to rely on the mini-player, which is now broken, I'm not holding my breath.
