iTuens 9 - Recently Added all mixed up

I synced a few new songs to my iphone today and when i went to my recently added playlist on my iphone all of the songs are mixed up. It never did this before... it was always newest at the top....

FYI this is itunes 9 and OS 3.1 for the iphone.

How do i report this? We need this fixed!! So annoying!!

Add me to the list. My husband has a 1G iPod Touch and relied on the Recently Added playlist for his podcasts. Now it's not working ever since I "upgraded" his iPod to 3.1. I even tried to revert back to 2.2.1, but it kept giving me a 1600 error. I sent a message to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html. Hopefully they will give us an update that fixes this SOON!

I had posted a question in the iPod Touch forum and someone gave me a solution to fixing the Recently Added list. He said to add another criteria for the smart playlist that says "Playlist is/is not" and then choose a playlist that doesn't involve anything you want in the Recently Added list. You could just use the Music playlist or maybe create an empty playlist. The Recently Added playlist my husband has is for Podcasts and this fixed his auto updating.

This is NOT a problem with iTunes though. It is a problem with the version 3 software for the iPod Touch and iPhone. I know this because my Classic iPod works fine.

WOW - this works, Diana - thanks! I created another criteria in my Recently Added playlist (Playlist - Is - Music) and now my Recently Added list syncs in the proper order to my 3GS 3.1.2 iPhone (even w/ Live Updating enabled - killer!). I think you're right about it being related to the device OS as iTunes 9.0.2 update exhibits same issue when syncing Recently Added smartlists to iPod Touch and iPhone devices w/out the extra "playlist" criteria entry.

I have sort of figured out how to sort them by date added, but song added 12/11/2009 will show before song added 12/23/2009 - however, it is still sorted by the date.

Check "Match the following rule"
"Date added is in the last # weeks"
(Remove media kind is not Podcast)
Check "Limit to # items selected by *most recently added*"
Check "Match only checked items"
Check "Live updating"

Please note I have an iPod Touch, but it should work for iPhones.

PS, am working on how to sort so song added 12/23/2009 shows before song added 12/11/2009

Thanks enostrum and others. I'm happy that the addition of the Playlist is Music rule makes the playlist 'smart' again. It's a much nicer solution than checking and unchecking Live Updating every time I add new music or make changes to my library.

That said, it is pathetic that this is still an issue. I've been following this bug for months. It shouldn't be necessary to add arcane rules to my Smart Playlists and waste my time looking at discussion boards (even friendly and helpful boards like this one).
