Podcast Sorting Issue : OS 3.1

Let me start off by saying ... Grrrrrrrrrrr .....

I updated to iPhone OS 3.1 tonight and all my podcasts seem to show up in RANDOM order: they are no longer sorted by date.

Are there are settings that have changed? (I can't find them). Or is this a bug they introduced?

Well, sort of. This is probably better than turning off live updating, since it might update the smart playlist after synching, but the smart playlist will not update on the iPhone. It's a more convenient workaround, but I wouldn't call this "fixed" by any means.

Not really fixed... even with the information in the post above, I still have random sorting in all of my smart playlists. Funnily enough, once in a while the random order will be completely correct, which is what happened the first two syncs after I tried this new method - I celebrated too early, though, as all successive syncs have continued the out-of-order issue.

So, this itunes/iphone combo is still as close to unusable as it could be without having the program fail to launch or the iPhone be bricked.

Off now to file a tech issue.

I found that simply creating a second smart playlist and setting hte only rule in it to "playlist is BrokenSortPodcastSmartPlaylist" and syncing that additional playlist to my iPhone 3GS also allows that second new playlist to retain whatever sort order I select in it. The original playlist (with all sorts of rules) remains untouched (and still sort-broken on the iphone).
