    I have the old 160 when it first came out.. Not the new.. and I can't get genius and it's pathetic.

    On my Touch I had to select one or more Genius Mixes on the "Music" tab in iTunes where you choose your sync options.

    Can you be more specific as to how you select them for synchornisation?

    I've re-connected my Classic, checked for the latest iPOD software (2.0.1) and gone to manually manage my synch. The Genius Mixes aren't listed there - other playlists (smart and simple genius lists created from a song) are listed).

    I've just updated my iPod classic 160GB Firmware for version 2.0.3 PC and Genius Mixes are working like a charm

    Is this firmware 2.0.3 for the "new" classic 160GB (2009 version) or the "original" classic 160GB (2007 version)?

    When posting replies can people please be more specific - saves asking a myriad of questions later.

    For example the post above about the exact type of iPOD classic.

    Notwithstanding that as I said in my post, I've checked via iTunes and apparently 2.0.1 is the latest software for my iPOD assuming that they haven't released 2.0.3 (what happened to 2.0.2) in the last few hours...

    Also - why aren't Apple responding to this as they probably have the detailed answer that will shut us all up...

    I understand that - however, it would seem common sense to have information such as confirmation of the latest firmware for all types of devices on the support pages. From previous experience with my iPhone and original nano, iTunes is not consistent when searching for new software/updates even when forced.

    I find this frustrating as Apple should deliver this kind of information as a matter of course rather than leaving it to the user community to resolve.

    UPDATE - it seems as though only the more recent iPOD Classic 160Gb will be getting 2.0.3 - from some research it seems as though the 120Gb is still at 2.0.1 unless Apple are just phasing out the updates to various devices.... Who knows cos Apple aren't exactly telling!

    Hey Folks!

    Have any of you recently connected your device to your MAC or PC and checked for updates? We've got a new firmware with Genius Mixes support on the NEW 160GB edition!

    I knew apple would pull through for us! They just had to get over other release day issues!

    It's too bad that this took priority over the issue of iTunes 9 breaking a slew of older (and previously healthy) iPods. Glad to see that Apple has its priorities straight.

    Hi there,

    When I connect my new iPod Classic 160Gb to my PC/iTunes it says that my iTunes is up to date. And I still can not get Genius to work. Do you have any advice?
