I have a few smart playlists set to contain podcasts. (BBC podcasts for example) My playlist in iTunes contains a few podcasts but after finishing syncing the podcast playlists on my iPod are empty. The playlists that contain music sync ok. This function used to work in the previous version.
I'm using an older 80 gig iPod. Is anyone else having this problem?
Mileage certainly does vary. I made a workaround for my favorite podcast playlist which was working fine on the iPhone iPod app--playlist and podcasts syncing properly, but 9.0.2 broke it--can sync the podcasts but not the playlist!
The old smart podcast playlist was
podcast = true
playcount = 0
limit to 100 by least recently added
So when I enabled shuffle for all the podcasts I could listen to a my podcasts in a nice random shuffle but only once each, and finished all the older ones before listening to the most recent ones.
After the update from 9.0.1, the playlist disappeared from the phone, and changing the first condition from podcast = true (podcast as a condition was remo0ved from the list of options) to media kind = podcast, it still works fine on the computer but the playlist won't sync to the phone. I have to turn on manually manage music and videos--not sure what problems this is going to start, but am sure that some will be apparent soon--to get the play list over to the phone.
Wish they'd figure out that a lot of us like our podcasts, and stop treating them like 2nd class citizens.
