Thanks to those of you who've taken the time to give me such thoughtful answers. I don't use Grid view as I find it awkward, confusing and inefficient (which is yet another piece of evidence that it's probably going to be impossible for Apple to please everyone). This made it very difficult for me to understand exactly what all the upset was about. I'm still not sure I agree with the aesthetic preference for black. However, I do now have a better appreciation for why people are upset.

I encourage you all to keep submitting feedback to Apple as that's the best way to effect change.

Best of luck to you all.

Dont get me wrong I love me some apple products. One thing that has bothered since day one is the in-ability to customize your iPod, iPhone, iTunes, whatever... I mean with the new nano being available in a millio9n colors you would think that they would finaly realize that yes the idea of changing the color of a product and being able to choose that color "you-ify's" it.

Now... With the new update of iTunes 9. Oi. There should be an option to change the color of the background. With as much time I spend on iTunes this is not too much to ask for. The white is blinding, sterile, and stark. At least change it back to the black. Ay ay ay.

An option to change the grid view back to black would be greatly appreciated. The issue with the white has to do with the contrast. While normal text looks great on a white background, images generally do not as they vastly overpower the color around them. I can't imagine this being something overly complex to add and would make iTunes9 considerably easier on the eyes.

In a room designed for music and relaxation, softly lit, the screen on iTunes is as intrusive as a bare bulb in a lamp without a shade. How can a company that prides themselves on details and encourages the public to think of them as creative geniuses, SCREW THIS UP SO BADLY. The white background in iTunes 9, even when my MacBook screen is at it's dimmest setting, COMPLETELY DESTROYS THE AMBIANCE OF THE ROOM. IT'S LIKE SOMEONE TYPING IN FULL CAPS ALL THE TIME WHILE THEY TAP ON THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD WITH THEIR INDEX FINGER!!!
