I don't see why I should mess around with system files and proprietary .exe's

It's a simple fix and a simple ask

Apple ... FAIL!!!

9.0.1 doesn't do anything for me

FAIL

The waiting game goes on. Will we be forced into the white backgrounds for the rest of our days? It is HORRIBLE. It's really starting to annoy me. The scrolling header fields in the iTunes store aswell. FAIL. Not good.

The weird thing is, didnt Apple just release a new iTunes 9.0.1 update shortly after the 9.0 came out. I think a slight shading may have been added but I thought for sure that they would have given us the option to change background color back as it seems like such a simple request.

I too left feedback, and have scoured the internet for an explanation of this whole mandatory white background business, but have had no luck...nor have I found a single positive comment about it.

So I just really want to know, "Why force the White?"
Can anyone answer?

I don't think anyone can answer definitively (apart from Jobbies himself and his closest allies) ... but for what it's worth this is my opinion:

The iTunes store, at least the music side of it, also has a white background (which is just as rubbish), whereas the Films and TV Programmes section of the iTunes store are resplendent in their black background. For what it's worth white also features heavily in Apple's own website (as you are staring at a white background reading this text!!)

I think it was design decision to distinguish between the Music and Film/Visual content part of the store.

It's just, that, well .... to use an American phrase ... it s**ks!! 🙂

Roll on 9.0.2 🙂

The white background in grid view is horrible. In Lightroom/Aperture/Final cut/Color/Motion, a darker background is used to provide less contrast and enhance the image. Itunes 9 is way to bright for such a display - and I'd like a way like Finder to choose a background colour for myself.

In the interim, i'll hack files, but this is not ideal.

EDIT: the hacks are broken for 9.01 AFAICT. It seems the hack for 9.0 was a hex-level change to the binary.

I don't post on forums by nature, but felt rather strongly about this one, and am glad to see so many do too.

The new background is terrible and it does seem strange that the apple design experts would get this one so wrong. I don't even know what cause they had for changing it in the first place, but surely most newer software these days has at least an option to look like older versions?
