Need Built-in Microphone Specifications

I'm trying to find some information about what kind of microphone is built into apple imacs.

What is the polar pattern and frequency response of this tiny mic?

Thanks

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo G5 (24-inch Late 2006), Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Apple doesn't publish those specifications. It's reasonable to assume the mic is omnidirectional, however, with a frequency range typical of small mics - 50-15,000 cycles.

BTW, if you have a Core 2 Duo iMac, then it's an Intel machine, not a G5 as indicated in your configuration profile. No G5 iMacs were made after 2005.

Hi idman

See the > [Audio Product-Specific Details|http://developer.apple.com/legacy/mac/library/documentation/Hardware/Co nceptual/HWTech Audio/Articles/Audioimplementation.html]

+*Internal Microphone*+
+The internal microphone operates independently from all other audio input ports and is always available. The internal microphone supports recording at bit depths of 16, 20, or 24 bits per sample and at sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or 96 kHz. Audio recorded from the microphone is presented as a stereo data stream with the same data appearing on both the left and right channels. The microphone gain can be adjusted from -16 dB to 30 dB.+
