Downgrading iTunes 9 to 8

Hi,

I recently downloaded itunes 9 and I really don't like it. I want to go back to itunes 8 but I just can't seem to figure out how to do it. Can anyone help me? I've lost my music before and I'm trying not to risk doing that again. Thanks

Eric

Me too... iTunes ruined by 9 - beach ball delaying the simplest of moves... So I took GP's great advice and believe I did it well as 8.2.1 is up and running and... STILL BAD.
AM I THE ONLY ONE TO CONTINUE TO HAVE ENDLESS BEACH BALL BLUES with 8.2 (something I never had before upgrading to 9)?
It's definitely 8.2.1 and my library is in perfect order - nothing lost, but... no good. SLOWWWW!
Might there be something else I should do in order to get back to the old speed and... being able to use the **** thing?

(9.0.2) iTunes/Preferences/General/Grid View - choose Light or Dark

I have downgraded to iTunes 8 - yay!

But... during the time I had iTunes 9 I created some really nice playlists that I would love to keep - many hours work.

Has anybody got any idea how to make a itunes 9 library transferable to itunes 8?

Is there a way to export it from 9 in a way that will work for 8?

PS possibly the biggest problem of itunes 9 is that it will irreparably damage ipod classics!

I tried iTunes 9 last year and hated it. So I went back to 8 on my Mac Pro. Today I thought I would go ahead and "upgrade?" to 9.1.1 on my MacBook Pro. It still *****. I made a clone backup of my MBP hard drive before I did this, so I could go back to 8 that way. But I found GangstaPenguins tip for going back to 8. It worked great. All the things that I loved about 8 that were missing from 9 are now back.

Thanks GangstaPenguin!

Apple, some of your "upgrades", aren't.

itunes is still the biggest lump of turd going.

they can make super fast phones, improve the IOS but itunes is so draconian.

why cant you have more than 1 itunes on 1 computer?

why doesnt the software update work for ipods?

why dont apple understand computers need replacing from time to time and therefore understand that itunes needs to be reinstalled on new machine without the owner losing everything from their ipad/iphone/ipod!!!

it goes against my prinicples but im seriously contemplating jailbreaking my apple products. imagine the simplicity of drag and drop files from pc onto the device. the time and hassle saved. no more "the itunes file wont open as you have a newer version" or "there was an error with the software update" or "when you sync your device you will lose everything youve spent ages putting onto it".

ah....the simplicity is something apple cant get in their heads!
