Kindle app

When one downloads a Kindle edition, does this reside on your iPhone? I would like to download some tour books for use abroad, but don't want to pay data charges if I were to read them in the midst of Paris without WiFi. Do I need an internet connection just to read?
Thanks.

Hi Carole

I installed the Kindle app on my iPhone and my old iPhone 2g. Both the app and any books you download reside on the phone. You should consider downloading the tour books you need before you go. If you keep your phone on "Airplane" mode, you won't have to worry about any data or roaming charges. In airplane mode you can still read using the Kindle app.

Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!
