I have HP and Epson printers. I always customize installations to only include print drivers I currently use, figuring that I can install drivers later if I make a change. But in any case, I don't ever see getting Lexmark printers. No offense.
I've gotten the error as well I'm fairly certain that it's related to the program CD Spin Doctor that comes with Toast. I have Toast 10 so if this is the app in question then it's not 'fixed' in the latest version.
Roxio responded that their products are not currently supported under Snow Leopard. Then went on to give me instructions about deleting the program and plist files and reinstalling. Only one problem, the instructions were for Toast 9 and I told them I'm using Toast 10. Stay tuned.
On a bright note, CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext is associated with CD Spin Doctor.
I have the same issue. While it's awful nice of Roxio to help us figure out how to remove their unsupported software, I personally feel that they should get on the ball and provide us with supported software. Apple usually provides software vendors with advance resources so that they can update their software for the new system. and now it's been a while since SL's official release and Roxio needs to step up to the plate and take care of their customers.
I'm getting the same error message. Glad to know what it actually is! Was sitting here scratching my heading thinking ***? Also using Toast 10 with Snow Leopard. I wonder how long it's going to take before this is rectified?
Unfortunately, the announcement was regarding their Tivo functionality, which I don't use.
I too am suffering from this "kext" error message. Can this problem be affecting how my CD Spin Doctor works? I have been having a problem with it since February, where I can capture audio from an LP and it sounds great until I save it. After it is saved, there is a low level of distortion or noise that gets introduced into the recording. I can't tell you how many times I have removed and reinstalled Toast 10 and CDSD. I even went so far as doing a clean install of Snow Leopard; all to no avail.
The noise appears to be introduced in the saving process. I have open files created and saved in CDSD with other applications, and the noise is still there.
All help is appreciated. I have easily spent 20-30 hours on trying to fix this problem, as I have quite a large library of albums ripped via CDSD. By the way, when I open older versions of saved AIFF files, sometimes CDSD crashes and sometimes the tracks are no longer marked (which causes me to have to mark them all over again).
I am sorry to hook onto this but I have the same thing over here too!
I installed Toast Titanium 10.01 followed by their update !0.02.
Tech came back to me and said try and reinstall Toast 10.01 (original CD).
I posted elsewhere if it would be best to first remove the offending:
I am back: I removed the Toast 10 Titanium 10.0.2 including the offending Spindoctor kext file and reinstalled the original 10.0.1 from the CD. It made no difference, same failed Spindoctor installation, same /System/Library/Extensions/CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext error. Bottom line:
Spindoctor needs an update for 10.6.1
I will post back with an answer by the tech (hopefully!)
W.W.
We've already told you that CDSPinDoctor is NOT compatible with Snow Leopard. When you reinstalled Toast 10 you also re-installed the offending file. You can't fix this. Roxio has to release an update. All you have to do is remove that extension file. That's it. However, every time you launch CDSPinDoctor you will be asked if you to install this extension which you will have to decline. Again, no amount of deleting or re-installing will fix anything. CDSPpinDoctor needs to be updated by Roxio. They have been promising an update for the last several weeks but it has not materialized yet.
It also needs to pointed out this error message is new to OS X. In the past a non-compatible kernel extension would simply crash the entire system with a kernel panic. It was up to the user to find out which extension was the culprit. With OS X Snow Leopard the system now identifies and does not load the problem extension. Be glad you are getting this error message because now you know what file is causing the problem.
