I have a continuing problem when trying to get my iPhone to connect to one of my Windows 7 PCs. I have a Acer 6920G with Win7 x64 which works fine, but my desktop, which has the same version of windows and, more importantly, my iTunes library has issues. I have followed the suggestions of reinstalling drivers, iTunes and powering the iPhone off, but to no avail. The computer sees the iPhone and I can access it through explorer but iTunes does not list it. I have iTunes 9 and OS 3.1, with a hope that this would be the solution, but no better. I have tried restarting services too. Any ideas?
Solved my problem. This should be written up and stickied.
It's definitely due to Windows 7 connecting the iPhone with the MTS Driver or whatever it was. It didn't recognize the Apple USB Driver. The problem for me was I upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 x64. I should have uninstalled iTunes completely and removed the Apple Drivers because everytime I installed iTunes it would find the 32 bit drivers and not installed the 64 even though they couldn't get used. I took winRAR as suggested by someone and extracted the Apple USB Drivers cab from the main iTunes installation and installed that separately. That solved my problem.
i keep getting an error message saying make sure this file works with 64 bit system when i try and use the usbaapl64 file what am i doing wrong ?? i installed the 32 bit version of itunes first not knowing there was a 64 bit version, but uninstalled and powered off and on then reinstalled the 64 bit version.
please help.......... i can almost seea light at the end of the tunnel getting my iphone to sync ..
I am having this same issue with Vista 32 SP2. This issue here is that as soon as I installed iTunes 9.0.3, iTunes would no longer recognize my iphone because Windows would no longer apply the Apple iPhone USB Driver.
When I go into Devices the Apple USB drive is no longer there when my iphone is plugged in. Just to make sure I uninstalled 9.0.3 and installed a older version and the Apple USB driver came back when I plugged in the iphone. I then upgraded to 9.0.3 again and the usb driver disappeared and would not come back.
