Need Canon Color image runner C2880i driver for snow leopard

I installed Snow Leopard in my MacBook and Mac Pro at work and i have installed them first to check out thebugs before before installing on anyother machines. To my horror.... i can't print. I have a Canon Color image runner C2880i and i can't seem to find drivers that work with Leopard....I have followed all directions and spent much time with apple support...downloaded Canon drivers and software again to be sure I had the latest and still no success. Does ANYONE have a link to get me to the drivers that i need to print off my machines. Please help. I need to start cooking for my new years dinner!

Thanks for the image Bob. Is the black square meant to be an image or is this where text should appear?

I don't believe the usage of an incorrect driver would be causing this, but I would still ask you to confirm if your iRC2880 is using the internal Canon printer board or the external imagePASS (Fiery) print controller.

That black square just shows up - if you look closely you can see the text in the top left corner, my only text on that document (it says "please?")
How can I confirm if the printer is using the internal board or the external controller? And which is preferable?
As a side note, I can print jpgs and tiffs —gray box free— from the direct print mode from the IP address... weird.
Thanks Pahu!

Pahu and others. I've followed this and previous threads and followed the advice to the letter, trying in vain to get my office IR C2880 to work via IPP or Ethernet. At present, I have complete communication with the printer, and can adjust all the settings, and print jobs go through, but never actually print - the error code/result code accompanying every print job is NG #816. I can get the documents to the printer, but nothing comes out. I am able to enter my id for job accounting, able to select trays - able to do everything short of have paper spit out on the other side.

Any clue as to what my problem is? I work in an academic environment where Macs are tolerated, but not supported, so I'm on my own trying to get this thing to print.

(BTW, I'm using the new drivers you suggested we download, using the LPP protocol with no queue specified, etc. - I believe everything that has been previously suggested.)

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

According to the Reference Guide for iRC3380/2880, the #816 error code means;

"You cannot print because the set page limit total has been reached."

So this explains why the paper does not print. The Dept ID (Job Accounting) code you are entering has reached its limit, whether it be for color, b&w or total usage. These limits are configured in the printer under the Department ID management section and usually need to be modified by the system administrator for the printer. If you don't have the password to access these settings, which is via the Advanced Functions > System Settings menu, then you will have to beg the Windows mentors for help.

Pahu et al,

Regarding the problem of only printing B&W -- it may be easy to miss the ** color ** UFR II driver:

Color: 'Canon iR C Series UFR II (US)'
B&W: 'Canon iR Series UFR II (US)'

Confirm which UFR II driver you selected when you added the printer; that might be the issue.

Also, I just (finally) successfully installed UFR II v2.06 and printed to our iR C2880/3380, selected the 'Canon iR C Series UFR II (US)' driver. Both B&W and Color work fine.

In order to make it work we did have to make one change to Pahu's instructions; when adding the printer we took the following steps:

From the Add Printer dialogue box:
- IP > Select 'Internet Protocol Printer - IPP' (not 'Line Printer Daemon - LPD')
- Enter IP address
- Name = "something unique so you can recognize it"
- Print Using > Select Printer Software > 'Canon iR C Series UFR II (US)'

Hope that helps.

Hello R.J. Schembs,

Good to read that you got your 10.6 Mac printing to the iRC2880/3380. However, for the record, even though you have selected IPP (which btw is not a supported protocol for the UFR2 driver) when creating the queue, the LPD protocol is still used by the driver. You can check this by selecting the print in Print & Fax and pressing Options & Supplies. Then under the General tab, you will see the print queue URL and it will look similar to the following;

cntdbmu://MCD UFR2_LPR/iRC2550UFR2/lpd://172.17.12.152/

You can see that with this queue, the Canon protocol (cntdbmu) makes use of LPD backend to submit the job to the Canon copier. So, regardless of whether you select HP Jetdirect or IPP, the LPD protocol is used by this version 2.06 driver.
