Need Canon Color image runner C2880i driver for snow leopard
I installed Snow Leopard in my MacBook and Mac Pro at work and i have installed them first to check out thebugs before before installing on anyother machines. To my horror.... i can't print. I have a Canon Color image runner C2880i and i can't seem to find drivers that work with Leopard....I have followed all directions and spent much time with apple support...downloaded Canon drivers and software again to be sure I had the latest and still no success. Does ANYONE have a link to get me to the drivers that i need to print off my machines. Please help. I need to start cooking for my new years dinner!
According to the Reference Guide for the iR C2880/3380, the cause of the #099 error is that printing was interrupted and the solution is to print again. I cannot think of a time that I've seen this error when printing. Can you reply with the printer driver and version you are using.
I needed the PS driver and gave up a few months back, but I have just downloaded and installed
PSV310_MacOSX_ukEN which I can report is printing successfully in 10.6! I can't remember where I found this driver, it may not have even been the UK site.
I have only tested so far by printing from Acrobat and Preview, but will try CS4 next to make sure my graphics software can print okay.
OK - a bit more info. I have updated to the latest driver (although I am not sure how to tell the version #), and now I am getting error #853 when I try to print a simple "Hello World" from Word. I've looked up the error message, and I've ensured spooler is off. Any thoughts?
The #853 can occur when the printer language of the driver you are using is not supported by the Canon imageRUNNER. For example, if you were using the PS driver or PPD and the copier only supported the UFR II print language, then this can generate the error message.
One way to determine what the copier supports is to use the Counter Check button. With this selected then press Device Configuration then Options. This will show the printer languages installed. If you only see UFRII and possibly PCL but not PS, then you will have to use the UFRII driver on the Mac.
If you see no printer languages in this menu then the device could be configured with the external imagePASS print controller. This is a white metal box that would be attached to the back of the copier and have two Ethernet cables (one to the network and one to the copier) and one 25pin data cable. Note that the #853 can also occur if you are using the UFRII driver to print to the copier when the imagePASS is being used, as this print controller does not support the UFRII proprietary printer language.
If an imagePASS is being used then you can start printing by using the Generic PS driver included with 10.6. With that working then you could look at using the PS driver for the imagePASS, however there are some issues with some of the imagePASS drivers on OS X 10.6 so if you could confirm your setup then I can advise your next steps.
OK - this is very helpful. I do only have UFR II installed, and I was using the PPD driver. So, do I use a UFR II driver (v 1.7), or do I try to get PS and PPD installed on the printer?

For the iR C2880/3380, the addition of the PS kit is just a license rather than a physical addition of a chip. So the availability of the PS kit is still most likely available for you if you want to spend the money. With the PS kit installed then the PS driver and the PPD can be used.
With only the device supporting the UFR II language then you can use v2.10 of the UFR II driver. Earlier versions of the UFR II driver, especially v1.70, are not compatible with Snow Leopard. So I suggest you check your local Canon web site for v2.10 of the UFR II driver for your language. If you are happy to use the UK English version of the UFR II driver, here is a link...
