thanks, but i've checked everything and still get a -7 error when i try to start an audio, video, or screens with one specific user. he gets a -8 error when this happens. conversely, when he tries to start a audio, video, or screens he gets a -7 and i get a -8 error.

his router's manual can be found here:
http://www.pogadajmy.com.pl/st780/st780sip_userguide.pdf
and he believes he has all the settings correct as well.

we can both connect to the test accounts and others but not each other.

any further ideas would greatly help.

thanks again.

Hi,

Have you used the CLI method and Unbound SIP form port 5060 ?

Are you using th VoIP features ?

Read here http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page4a.html#_text
You will need the lower example for the CLI (Terminal) instructions
It is Section 4 in the manual about VoIP and slightly earlier for CLI (you may want to use the web interface to delete the Default User ID and any password first).

However about version 4.2.5 of the firmware Unbinding fully can be difficult and produce only marginal improvements.

hi,

thanks. i haven't tried the cli method because i cannot connect to my router through terminal. i've tried using the instructions you've provided, but i get this as a response and can't continue:

Trying 192.168.0.1...
telnet: connect to address 192.168.0.1: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host

i'm not using the voip features of the router.

i find this problem so frustrating since i can connect to the tests, to other people but not one person in particular that i used to be able to connect to no problem. he also has the same issue but has a different router.

thanks for all this help, sorry i'm such a n00b.

Hi,

Thomson-Alcatel have always kept the Set up pages somewhat separate from the main IP.

On those using the 10.xx.xxx.xxx range the Set up pages and CLI access IP is 10.0.0.138
(AS this page shows http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/Speedtouc h780v6/iChat.htm )

Others that use 192.168.xxx.xxx tend to use 192.168.0.254

I do see some on the Port Forward site that list 192.168.0.1 though.

I would tend for this bit to access the device in a Web Browser and delete the Admin User Name and password until you have done th CLI bit then you should not have to enter anything in the Terminal parts that want a entry (just hit Enter).

It may pay to double check the manual that the CLI Access IP is not different to the Web Access one.
