Duplicate MobileMe accounts on iPhone...

Since upgrading to 3.1 and iTunes 9 I have had a serious problem with my calendars.

I have no less than four separate versions of my iMobileMe account calendars on my iPhone and nothing I've tried has removed them. I've tried resetting my MobileMe sync data, synching the calendars directly with iTunes and replacing the calendar info on my iPhone, deleting all my accounts on my iPhone and re-adding them.

The way they show up is as separate accounts on my iPhone. When I have my MM account active, they are all titled "MobileMe" (which is the name I gave that account on my phone), but when I delete my MM account from the phone they show up as "Untitled Account."

I've seen several threads about issues with subscription calendars, but the duplicates I have are my local iCal calendars, not subscriptions. This issue doesn't seem to effect contacts or mail in any way, just calendars.

Has anyone seen this or been able to solve it?

I scoured all the posts, and my conclusiin is it is a failure of iphone to purge all account data; leaving you with orphaned calendar accounts you can't get rid of. EXCEPT...see below. I offer this compliation:

AFTER backing up calendar data, prepare as if you will have to do a factory wipe to your iphone. That is ultimately what I had to do to eliminate this. But the follow pre-steps are worth trying (i learned all this from a 45 minute online chat with mobileme tech support). These are all solutions others have tried, and some have found it works.
1. in system preferences on yor computer, delete all sync'd computers one by one. When you get to the last, you should have a short delay but get a dialogue offering what to do with data on mobile me server. Check all boxes and choose delete.
2. Delete the mobileme account on your iphone. (all your data should have been backed up on your desktop, where no duplicates exist; your cleanest data)
3. Turn off syncing with mobileme on your computer. You will restore this later.
4. Fire up isync on your desktop. Look udner advnaced and choose "delete all sync data" gives your computer and mobileme servers blank mind and clean slates to re-start from.
5. Lastly, make sure you haven't mistakenly had itunes syncing your data and mobileme trying to sync it, too. You can do this by plugging your iphone into computer (via usb sync cable) and as a sync is starting, click on the info tab at the top. make sure all boxes are UNchecked if you are trying to sync with mobileme.
6. Now you can try a restore, by a) reentering mobileme account data in your iphone and your computer.

If that doesn't work to eliminate duplicates, your only choose is a factory wipe of iphone by going to settings-general-restore at the bottom, and choosing "wipe all data and programs" (since apple offers no other way to eliminate the "untitled account" calendars you are seeing. MAKE SURE when you go through this process that you remember a) you've done a recent sync via cable from iphone to computer so all your apps are saved; and B) that as you recover from restore you DO NOT choose to "restore from a back-up" You want to create this as if it's a new iphone out of the box. Itunes will copy all your apps back. And once you have re-created your mobileme accounts on computer and on iphone (step 6 above), all your email settings, calendar, contacts, etc. will be back.

The only thing that worked for me...I hope you get restored without the duplicates, too!
