Defeat Logic's auto CC1 reset?

Hi All,
Was wondering if there is a way in the clicks & ports to defeat Logic automatically resetting CC1 to zero on play or stop.

Thanks

Mac Pro 2x2.26 QuadCore Nehalem, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Logic 9 motu2408

The "No Reset" checkbox SHOULD address this, but it seems broken

from manual:
No Reset: Turn on the No Reset parameter to prevent reset messages from being sent to this channel strip. This can be useful if controllers are being used for nonmusical purposes, such as mixer automation. The Logic Pro > Preferences > MIDI > Reset Messages pane determines what reset messages are normally sent, but these messages are not sent to No Reset instruments.

Photofinish! 🙂
O, wait a minute... that's four different options to uncheck...?
Prefs>Audio>Reset uncheck *Control 1 to zero* (why is this setting in the Audio prefs??)
*Prefs>MIDI>Reset Messages* (2: cc1 unchecked and 'send Used Instruments Settings on Reset' unchecked?)
and
*Project Settings>MIDI>Chase* (uncheck 'send full MIDI reset before chasing'?)

Erik,

AFAIK, the reset messages of your picture are relevant only for external MIDI.

My first impulse was a foreheadslap - I had heard that before, your afaik was also my afaik. Then I opened up the LP9 pdf, and it became less clear:

p. 649
To turn off stuck notes
Do one of the following:
Click the lower MIDI Activity display section in the Transportbar.
Click the Stop button twice in rapid succession.
In both cases, reset messages are sent, as defined in Logic Pro > Preferences > >MIDI > Reset Messages.

No word that this only works for external sound.

P 1284:
*MIDI Reset Message Preferences*
The preferences in this pane are only included for compatibility with older >MIDI hardware. Logic Pro handles MIDI reset messages automatically and intelligently, so you should generally make sure that all of these options are unselected. (This the >default.)

This does not explain where they are sent, and though there is mention of 'older hardware', it doesn't state explicitly that it is not sent to Software Instruments.
All selected checkboxes will send a reset message, for the selected controller type, to all MIDI outputs.

Does that include internal/virtual outputs? Rewire? IAC-bus? Environment?
This reset message is sent on cycle jumps and when playback begins, but the use of these options shouldn’t be necessary.

Why not? I'ld really like a MIDI signal flow chart in the manual for these sort of settings...

Anyway, I shall now mess with it, because all this is theory plus manual, practice should clarify more... 😉

regards, Erik.
