Contacts numbers disappearing and some contacts completely disappear!!

Greetings all....
wonder if someone might help me?? Some of my Iphone contacts seem to be randomly disappearing and now I have noticed that other contacts telephone numbers and details have disappeared (just left name).
I am syncing with MacBook Pro, and also have Entourage installed (which I rarely use).
I have tried turning On/Off MobileMe and numerous other solutions - nothing is working and the contacts have disappeared from my computer also. I am now starting to loose faith in the phone as some of the contacts are pretty important to my work in the Emergency Services.
- Any solutions/advice gratefully accepted!!

I just noticed that the same thing is happening to me. I haven't figured out why yet, so I don't have an answer for you, but please post back here if you find a solution.

Ouch! Just noticed the same thing. Random phone numbers get deleted in my Address Book and then the deletion syncs to my iPhone Contacts, causing it to be gone permanently from both. I have no idea how long this has been happening or why it affects one contact and not another. I did notice that once it starts happening to a contact, it keeps happening to the phone numbers on that contact until eventually they are all gone. Big trouble since I don't know how far back to go to recover and then I will have lost all my recently added data.

Same problem with my MacBook Pro and iPhone. All contacts removed from the phone and Contacts. I started to re-enter them and watched as they disappeared again when I clicked SAVE. Shortly after that, all my mail disappeared from Entourage. I wiped the Mac and reloaded from scratch, downloaded from iDisk, so far so good.

Same here. Two days ago I noticed an address was missing on my iPhone although I was sure that it should be there. Today an other address was missing. I sync between a Mac Book Pro and two Mac Pros. One of the Mac Pros is still running 10.5.8 (could that be the source of trouble?) The addresses are still online at mobile me and on the Mac Book Pro. Haven't checked to two Mac Pros yet.
I remember that when using the 10.5.8 Mac Pro I got some iSync dialogs popping up telling me that something has changed with the sync data but I don't remember what it was.

Any ideas what's going on?

Best regards,
Stefan

I heard back from Apple after the engineers took a look at the logs and other info I sent them. It seems that some kind of Entourage conflict may have been responsible for the disappearing phone numbers. This is strange since I don't use Entourage. However, I have tried it in the past and do remember an Entourage sync related message that came up a few months ago. I don't remember if I did anything about it and have not found anything related to Entourage running on my Mac. However, given Microsoft's constant attempts to take control of a user's computer, who knows?

Anyway, Apple wanted me to reset my sync status. However, since it's been running OK after I restored my AddressBook folder to a Time Machine backup and reloaded the contacts to my iPhone, I decided not to do this.

The solution to my problem is quite simple. Before performing the following steps, make sure that the contact information on mobile me is correct.

Then go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> "mobile me account"

then switch off "Contacts" and confirm "Delete from My iPhone", after all contacts have been delete, switch contacts on again and wait until synchronization has restored all contacts from the mobile me.

So I am reading all of these posts and I have something a little bit different happening. This just started occurring today. Contacts are gone from my address book. The recent calls and texts are still in the recent calls and my inbox so I tried to add them in again by selecting "Add to Contact" and then "Create New Contact". Then I enter in the persons name and select "Done", then enter additional information and select "Save" and "Done" again and the persons name will then appear again in the top bar as usual. However, as soon as I exit that screen, whether it is the text screen where I added it back in or the contacts screen, once I leave that screen, the information is gone and they are no longer in my contacts. Only the number remains. They are no longer associated with a name or any other information. This appears random and does not affect all people in my address book. It does not affect only certain area codes either. It is also several different carriers, not just one in particular. I cannot seem to figure this out. I have tried turning the phone on and off and I have not done a sync recently that would have caused this. Any ideas? Let me know. My e-mail is smplyoutrgous@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Christina

Havin' the same problem here...
I have a 3G (running 3.1.2) and am syncing contacts through the 'Mobile Me Cloud' from my black MacBook Core2 Duo (running 10.6.2)...
Very strange, usually relaunching the 'phone' app or 'contacts' app refreshens them.. But it's pretty darn SCARY to see text messages w/ only numbers listed of your entire 400+ contacts have only numbers and no names attached. Not likin' this [has been happening for about 4-5 days now] - Apple better get on it especially w/ all this new AT&T exclusivity-ending drama coming up this June. between late MMS delivery, so-so battery life, shoty service/dropped calls, I think we at least deserve for our contacts to NOT be disappearing like the stuff over at T-Mobile/Danger w/ the SIdekick.. COULD YOU IMAGINE?!?

Not liking what I am reading here!
Just sync'd my iphone with my PowerBook G4 and BAM! all my contacts disappeared from both my iPhone and PowerBook. Being on the road, I've not backed with time Machine for over a month, and am not relishing the thought of re-inputting the 200 plus contacts, many that have been input from email. Hope this problem is identified quickly. As a long time Mac user, I'd hate to loose the faith.

Contacts numbers disappearing and some contacts completely disappear!!
