How to test G5 power supply?

My G5 desktop (2004 model) recently died. From everything I've read online I'm pretty sure it's the power supply. I found a good deal on a PSU on ebay but I don't want to waste money on a PSU if that isn't the problem.

I looked up how to test the PSU online and found the following two old posts:

"To test a G5 PS, you must measure for a trickle voltage on Pin1 . There will be+5Vdc (btwn Pin1 & Pin 23 GND) after plugging in the AC Cord. If there is no trickle , the supply is bad."

AND

"I would carefully remove the black plastic cover over the power supply connector on the logic board, and check each pin with a DVM for a +5V trickle voltage. No +5V trickle indicates a dead PSU"

My experience with hardware is pretty limited to installing hard drives and RAM. Can someone put this into plain English for me or direct me to some more detailed, step by step, directions?

Thanks!

From another website, that I found handy: when I bridged the 13 and 14, the fans on the PS unit came on and I could check the other voltages...

To test a G5 PS, you must measure for a trickle voltage on Pin1 . There will be+5Vdc (btwn Pin1 & Pin 23 GND) after plugging in the AC Cord. If there is no trickle , the supply is bad.

(Note: Pin 12 and 24 are empty. Pin 13 is GND. These are the other 4 corners. You probably will have to remove the black cover to expose the wires).

Pin 14 is PWRON. Jump it w/ ground (13) -- 13/14 should show up as +5v on the v-meter just to be sure you're on the right track
