Download Error. Tap to retry.

Whenever I try and download a song from itunes directly to my iphone I get the message: Download Error. Tap to retry.

I've checked that I don't have any t&c's to accept in itunes and that the files are under 10mb. I've also tried deauthorizing and reauthorizing my compueter which doesn't help.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm using a brand new 3GS which syncs with windows vista.

Thanks in advance 🙂

MrHoffman I thank you.!

The swipe worked on a friends iPad 2.

Had done a mass download of songs on the iPad 2 when new & 132 songs had the error/retry problem.

It took a while to delete them all but after a few minutes they reappeared in the purchased - not on this device area in iTunes and I was able to successfully download them.

Thank you

I also had the same problem. It wouldn't work on my ipod or on my computer. So, I complained about the issue on express lane from apple and I gave them my account information and they had someone who works there fix the problem. If you send them a complaint they will fix it within 24 hours. Once they email you just redownload the song and it will work perfectly fine.

I've read the whole thread, tried everything and nothing worked. I was just able to delete the uncomplete downloads from my two devices and my Mac by sweeping, then I got the song from other source. This bug was a nightmare as I wasted my time trying to fix it and nothing worked. I give up, now I just want a refund from Apple, How did you manage to get in touch with them?? I was not able to find a "Contact us" link on the support section.

I've been having this issue ever since I did the last upgrade. I refuse to upgrade to the one that got pushed a few days ago.

I'm glad Im not the only one searching this out today. I, too, looked for contact info for support, nadda.

This is ridiculous. I've been searching online for two days and nothing works. It's been a known issue in the OS since at least 2009, from what I have found. So why is it STILL not fixed?!!

This problem has been going around for 3 years now and it's hard to understand how Apple was not able to fix it. Why don't we organize a viral campaign in order to catch Apple's attention and thus try to force them to fix the problem once and for all? We can use Facebook, Twitter or any other social network tool. And how about writing a protest song and upload it to You Tube, as David Carroll did with United Airlines? See the video and the story on: sssss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YGc4zOqozo

Honestly I had this issue and tried every solution on this page... Nothing worked for me, although I have resolved the issue many of you will have no use of this post. All I can say is don't waste a week of your life tapping retry, PLEASE CHECK AVAILABLE MEMORY ON YOUR IPOD! Common sense I know, but if I'm stupid enough then I'm sure this will be helpful for others.

To get rid of the download error, go to the download page and find the small down-pointing arrow icon next to the "download error. Tap to retry." text. Put your finger on the down-pointing arrow icon and flick (quick short swipe) to the left. The down-pointing arrow icon will be replaced with a "delete" button. Tap the delete button. Then confirm the delete in the modal popup window.

Download an app called iExplorer, this will allow you to got inside ios on your iPhone, and tyou will easily find the download list pending, and just delete the items off the list.....only takes a few minutes....Apple care wont tell you because its not there app and they dont like you going inside you phone....so they rather you just suffer than have it fixed.

Danny, thanks. I'm very disappointed in Apple's customer support -- I could not get this answer out of them.

Also - I've had to ask for refunds on 3 downloads already.

1. the Breaking Bad series that would not completely download. It finally did after 14 hrs. I asked for the download at 12 hrs and it took 2 days to get a response.

2. The Milepost 2012 Book on Alaska, which is sold as an App. This thing took hours to download then it would lock up. Apple's respone was that this "unusual." Of course, I pointed out that other had the same issue -- read the reviews of the app. Why present a book as an app? It's a freaking BOOK.

I'm not impressed with Apple.

None of the many "fixes" for this common error worked for me, having trawled the net for days. I solved the issue by getting a new iPhone, within the 14-day return deadline. This suggests it is a hardware fault, or that the inbuilt iTunes app was installed incorrectly? I know this won't help most people, but hopefully more people will properly trial their Apple products when they first purchase them, so you can swap faulty ones. The tech guys at my local store had NO idea how to fix it, so getting a new phone was the only option... and it did work.

Download Error. Tap to retry.
