HP LaserJet 1022 Printing Problems - Please Post Here

Sorry, I hate to create a new thread, but tracking so many different threads on this one issue is becoming problematic for me. So with that being said, if you are still having a problem with printing to a LaserJet 1022 after the full uninstall I detailed in the FAQ thread followed by installing version 2.2 of the HP driver package, then let me know here. And specifically I want to know is which device you have, how your device is connected, the print driver version, and what apps are giving you problems. In my own personal testing, here is what I have found:

USB direct connect - OK, I have yet to run into a problem here.
USB connected to an Airport Extreme N - OK, I have yet to run into a problem here.
USB connected to an Airport Express G - Paused problem. I got print job/page out and then the printer paused and would not resume. I don't have a functioning work around here yet, but I'm trying.

So if I were going to fill out my own form, it would look like this:

Printer: LaserJet 1022n
Connection: USB connected to an Airport Express G (Firmware version 6.3)
Driver Version: 1.1.0.182
Apps: All
Problem Description: Printer queue goes into a Paused mode and won't resume

And to get you started, I have left a blank template at the end of this post.

Also please make sure to include whether you have the 1022, 1022n, or 1022nw AND how it is connected to your Mac. If users of the 1020, what to chime in on this thread that is OK. Anyone else, please post in the FAQ thread or a different device specific thread. As the 1022 seems to be the most problematic at the moment, I'd like to track this down as quickly as possible.

Just trying to help.

Andrew

Try CP1022 option (check my message above from "Nov 18, 2012 10:16 AM").

Sometimes (I didn't yet figure it out when exactly) there might be something like a document stuck in the queue with the name of "Supplies ..", just delete it from the queue and it resumes.

No need to cold restart the printer for me since November 🙂

Hope this helps

PS 1022 is HP's!

For those of you who are fed up with the HP issue then just drop them!!! After HP was kind enough to send us out 2 replacement printers after we have had the same issues with 3 different units......I decided I've had it! 😠 This is not a car or a house.......consumer electronics are not worth this much hastle. Take my advice and just buy a different brand of printer. I bought an Epson and I'm so glad I did.

I am still having major issues with my 1022n deciding to only print odd pages and it's driving me nuts. HP say the driver is up to date. The gutenprint driver (above) does not print the whole page. I have downloaded the latest apple drivers, removed the old driver, restarted, installed, etc, all to no avail - can someone please help me out?

Printer: HP 1022n

Connection: Ethernet (fixed IP)

Driver Version: 1.4.0

Apps:Powerpoint -although anything really.

Problem Description: prints only odd pages

Hi,

recently software update added a Canon injet printer software update V2.12. (an old printer I no longer own). Around that time my HP Laserjet 1022, which is connected via USB to my desktop stopped being available via printer sharing. Coincidence or has someting caused a conflict? Printer works fine as long as it is connected via USB but no longer visble as a choice to my laptops.

Printer: LaserJet 1022

Connection: USB connected to an iMac

Driver Version: 1.4.0

Apps: All

Problem Description: Printer not available for print sharing.

All I can say is my 1022 is chugging along fine under Mavericks 10.9.2 suing the same drvier software.

Hello,

I’ve come up with a solution that seems to be working on 10.9.2. My printer is a regular HP 1022 which I bought around 4 years ago.

I have had the same problem of only odd pages being printed and 3 blinking leds after almost each print, all this since I had my new mac with Mountain Lion. It didn’t improve when I upgraded to Mavericks recently. It worked so well with my old G4 iMac still under 10.5.8…

So the idea is to use another driver than the one that is chosen by default when plugging in the USB cable and switching the printer on. As mentioned somewhere before, I will use the CP1022 driver. Here are the details to do it .

Some messages below may be a little different (I’m using 10.9.2 in French).

  1. Connect your printer through USB and make sure it is switched on
  2. Go to System Preferences -> Printers and Scanners
  3. Erase your printer in the list using the - below the list
  4. Add a new one using the + below: a new window opens and shows a printer using the name "HP LaserJet 1022"
  5. Select this printer: by default, it selects driver version 1.4.0 and shows "HP LaserJet 1022, 1.4.0"
  6. Click that and choose "select software"
  7. Type 1022 in the filter up there, 3 lines should show up
  8. Select "HP LaserJet CP1022, 2.0.20120620"
  9. Click Add

You should be done, give it a test printing a three page document.

Hope this helps!
