Restore didn't work for me either. Apple is ********.

Apple is what? You are quick to blame the wrong people. This is not an Apple issue, if you have read any of the posts here you will see that it is an ATT issue. Some folks have had to call ATT, some replaced their Sim cards, other, like myself simply rest the network.

For this last option: Go to Settings, select General, scroll to bottom and select Reset, select Reset Network.

I just got off the phone with AT&T and here's my deal. I had a 2G which I gave to my son and upgraded myself to a 3G about 9 months ago. The IMEI number associated with my phone is pointing to my son's 2G which make my phone look like a 2G. This is happening on some back-end system.

Unfortunately the tech I got didn't quite know how to fix it so waiting for the magical call back.

I just feel after making me wait all summer for this, this really is FAIL on AT&T's part.

I found out after banging my head many times.

Please check the _*MMS Max Message Size.*_

My carrier (AIS in Thailand) have a limit on the size of MMS message. When the message exceed the limit, iPhone will display "Message Send Failure" The failure sometimes will happen intermittently since each photo is a JPEG file and some are larger than another. The smaller ones may be sent successfully while larger ones will fail.

Try to set the Max MMS Message Size. Try smaller number such as 50000 (50,000 bytes). If it works, keep increasing it. For AIS, the limit seems to be at around 300 KB.

After you set this, iPhone will resize the photo to keep the message size within the limit. This will reduce photo quality but if you set it to 50KB the message will be sent more quickly (no more pausing at around 90%).

This works 100% for me. In case you tried everything else, please give this solution a try.

Here in Las Vegas, we had MMS over the weekend. Now, I'm unable to send ANY text messages, MMS or not, from my iPhone. I've tried all the fixes listed here and on several other websites, but nothing was working.

The only thing that did work was to turn OFF 3G networking under settings -> general and go back to the old EDGE network. Now, I can send and receive regular text messages just fine.

Sounds to me like ATT rolled this out a bit too soon. The 3G network doesn't seem to be able to keep up with demand.

Inside scoop guys. Easy fix from what I've seen. Make sure you have the _iphone_ texting plan on your account. They have separate codes for iphone and regular texting plans, unless you are on a family texting plan- which if you're still having problems on a family text plan I have no idea what to do...yet.

anyways have them put the appropriate plan and then restart your device. Already know this worked, did not have to make any other changes to phone or account. Hope this works for you guys.

THANK YOU!!!! That was it. I don't have unlimited texting and had no problem, but I couldn't get my wife's phone to work. After I saw this I went online and switched her from Unlimited Texting to iPhone unlimited texting and it worked!

i called at&t the other day and here's what happened. they said they had my correct imei number with the billing, but the system was still picking up my old 2g first generation. i told at&t that i've had my 3g for 10 months...this really shouldnt be a problem. so they created a case and said it would be completed and resolved by 9/29. that has now come and gone. every time they've mentioned about following up or calling me back, they've utterly failed. when they said their manager would call me and expedite it, nothing happens. i still get jack.

i don't understand what is taking so effing long. i understand that they didn't expect a problem, but voila! there is one. they didnt anticipate all these network issues with it recognizing 2g and not people who've upgraded? if it is such a big deal, how did they not see it coming? i feel so left out that everyone around me is enjoying it, then reading about in on the internet when at&t says the rollout for iphone mms was "a success" and went "smoothly."

am i being too harsh? are my feelings justified? or do i need to take a step back and see the bigger picture?

Had the same issues; resolved now. Here's what worked for me:
- after innumerable restores, resets, etc, followed by hours on the phone with ATT, ended up going to my local ATT store for a new SIM card.
I was skeptical, but the tech support person on the phone made sense and seemed to know what she was doing. She was the one that recommended the new SIM. Just to be sure, since I have multiple iPhones on my account (four in total, three of which upgraded without problem), I swapped the SIM from the one NOT working into one of the iPhones that was working. Sure enough, the problem followed the SIM! I also moved the SIM from a working iPhone into the one that was giving me all the trouble and - viola! - problem was gone!
So, I go to ATT store and they can't explain it but readily agree to swap the SIM. Now, the tech there also "reset" my plan information in their back end systems and FINALLY the problem phone is working! So, bottom line is it could have been the SIM or it could have been the "reset" function performed by the in-store tech, but one (or both)actions worked. So, the moral of the story is: do not waste your time restoring and playing with iTunes, etc. If you have another iPhone or have a friend with one that's working, try the SIM swap I described above to see if the problem follows. Hope this helps!
