Mini display port to HDMI problem

I have my aluminum Macbook perfectly wired up to my 32 inch RCA HDTV. Nothing will come up on the screen, I've tried detect display, I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging and plugging back in then detect display, turned the tv of and on, but nothing is working. I am currently running Snow Leopard, but when I was on Leopard this process of attaching the TV to the computer just took about 10 minutes of doing desultory processes that I've already described. Any suggestions on how to make it work the first time?

Same thing here. Can not connect my macbook pro to lg tv or lg monitor. Both say just no signal. I ordered another adapter so we'll see if that's the problem.

I bought a new adapter from Kanex hope it works, it was the only one in amazon that haven't any bad reviews, now i'll have to wait 'till the end of january to receive it (I live in Brazil).

New update is out, 10.6.6, hopefully it will work better with this update. But if I know Apple close enough, we all know the answer to that 😉

Will post the result asap.

I think only the 2010 macbooks are audio capable via the MDPort, sorry.

Does gfxCardStatus work for the regular macbook, or only macbook pro???

Sorry, it only works with MacBook Pro's with dynamic switching graphics.

I WISH!

If I do that my MBP just sits there with either a blue screen or a grey screen FOR EVER and doesn't boot up. The LCD TV just mocks blankly blue.

Right chaps, I have the answer... upgrade to the new 2.0 firmware and it'll work again! They've gone and fixed it. (At least it's working for me)

i can get a display on the tv but no sound.

How do i get the tv to play the sound from my macbook too?

Same problem here. mini-display to HDMI working fine for months. Now it's not any more. Don't when I upgraded to 10.6.6 but wondering if that's the problem. Has anyone solved this problem?
