Mini display port to HDMI problem

I have my aluminum Macbook perfectly wired up to my 32 inch RCA HDTV. Nothing will come up on the screen, I've tried detect display, I've tried restarting the computer, unplugging and plugging back in then detect display, turned the tv of and on, but nothing is working. I am currently running Snow Leopard, but when I was on Leopard this process of attaching the TV to the computer just took about 10 minutes of doing desultory processes that I've already described. Any suggestions on how to make it work the first time?

Early 2009 Aluminum Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

If you turn on mirroring displays, it will show the same as your mac

Actually as far as I can tell nobody has reported a failed mdp to hdmi cable.

And one more mDP to HDMI cable has failed. So far that's two for 2014. Same MO - randomly dies afer being plugged into the MacBook Pro with a faint audible buzz from within the laptop.

I've got de same problem. But we just tried with a non Apple product. A Thunderbold to HDMI adapter and it's working !!!! 😀 I'm on Mavricks. So buy a non Apple adapter !

There is a solution !!! I first had the same problem but I just tried a non Apple product Thunderbold adapter to HDMI and it is working !!! And it's running on OS X Mavericks !!! 😀

Really dont know what to say man, sorry it didnt work for you. I upgraded to mavericks yesterday and the cable is still working fine.
