HP Officejet 6110 All In One - Scanning?

HP support lists the 6110 or 6100 series for print only. Scan is not supported. Has anyone figured out how to make a 6100 scan using SL? I was scanning just fine for several days after installation of SL but today I get a busy error saying I need to select a scanner in Directory/Imagezone.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

JKW,

I have a pleasant surprise for you. We are currently wrapping up testing on scan drivers for a whole bunch of addition devices, including yours. While that doesn't help today, with any luck you should have Scanning back by the end of the month (assuming that testing doesn't expose any major problems).

Just trying to help.

My situation with my Officejet 6110 is getting worse. I can't get it to print now. The printer continues to pause and when you reset it it starts over never finishing a page. Now this morning the message is that the printer is disconnecting? I never had any issues with this printer until I downloaded Snow Leopard. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have my Officejet 6110 All In One Printing and Scanning with Snowleopard. I deleted all HP software and printers from the computer. I downloaded the hp print software for 10.2.8 from their web page. I then set up two printers the first one is the default that came up it says Officejet 6100 series. The second printer and and what I believe allows for scanning is the 6100 series using driver 4.0.3.

Not sure if this is a long term fix but it is working today.
Please let me know when the update to SL is available to officially support scanning on the offficejet 6110.
Thanks

JKW,

Short term that should work. Longer term Scan drivers for the Officejet 6110 have passed testing, so its just a matter of getting them distributed. What I would do if I were you is use what you have working until you see the next update come out. At that point, delete all the HP software first, and then install the update. That should give you Print & Fax capabilities on your Officejet 6110.

In the meantime, remember you may have functionality missing under 64-bit apps for printing. The work around is to set Preview to always launch in 32-bit mode, then print through Preview and make your adjustments there.

Just trying to help.

Andrew, is the 10.6.2 SL update the update that includes the printer fix for my HP Officejet 6100 All in One. I am still printing and scanning okay with the old hp software. You recommended I delete that software prior to the download. Before I do I wanted to confirm that this upgrade will fix my scanning and printing issues.
Thanks

I downloaded the OSX update but my 6110 all in on does not scan. What I did as you suggested was deleted all the HP software to the trash and tried to scan from preview. I was able to print but not scan. I pulled the HP software out of the trash and can now scan like I was before using the HP Scan.

If the 10.6.2 included the scan drivers for the 6100 all in one and I did something wrong please send me a note.
Thanks

Have you tried using Image Capture to scan? For most HP AIO's on Snow Leopard that is the application we use to scan. To start it, Command Spacebard, type +Image Capture+ the hit return to start the software. It should locate your 6110 and then you can begin scanning. If you do a lot of scanning just put Image Capture in your Dock for quick launching.

OK, here is what you should do.

1. Go to System Preferences Printer & Fax and highlight your 6110 and click the - sign to delete it.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907 and download the most up-to-date drivers then install them.
4. Go to System Preferences again and this time click teh + sign and locate your 6110 to add it.
5. Try Image Capture again.

Skillet,

OK, yours shouldn't be that tough. Do this.

1. Open System Preferences, Print & Fax and highlight the 6110 on the left and then click the - key to remove it.
2. Down load or re-down load the most up to date drivers from HP:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/firmware_hardware/hpprinterdriversfo rmacosxv106.html

then install them.

3. Turn off the 6110 and disconnect it from the Mac. Then re-connect it and
4. Open System Preferences, Print & Fax and click the + sign and add the 6110.
5. Restart the computer once it fully boots it should print OK.
