PC to Mac - iPod classic - Version 1.1.2 PC

So I bought this iPod about 2 years ago and wanted to format it for my iBook G4 which runs OSX 10.4.11. However, for some reason it seemed to be already formatted for a PC (Mac wasn't reading it and the summary said Version 1.1.2 PC) I had a PC at the time that I also used so I got impatient and just used it on there since PC picked it up.

Now the PC is on it's last leg and I want to use it on Mac. I read I didn't even need to change it because Mac can recognize PC iPods, but it's only being picked up by the desktop, not by iTunes 9. I'm currently trying to drop music into it on the desktop via disk mode but I would like to fix the problem.

I even went onto the PC and completely restored the iPod (after backing up all my music for hours and hours!) and it's no different (still says PC version) and now it's music-less.

Any smarty-pants' out there with some ideas? I've been reading this is an iTunes 9 issue, but seeing as how it says PC version and my computer wouldn't pick it up years ago I fear the worst.

Any and all help would be appreciated.
