Iphone won't recharge - stuck in trickle charge mode - Software Issue!

My iphone would not recharge - in any wall charger, car charger, or computer - I tried 2 wall chargers, 2 car chargers, & 2 usb connections to 2 different computers. It worked as normal one day, the next day, it wouldn't work anywhere. The iphone always connected, but would go into trickle charge mode (plug picture on the battery instead of lightening bolt), even when battery was less than 10% full. That's not enough to charge it & my phone slowly died. Well, many off & on's, hard resets, & several full restores - my phone works now - until I restore from my last backup. Yes, it charges fine when the phone is restored & has none of my info on it. The second I restore from my last backup, trickle charge only. I have recreated this 3x now. Anyone else have this issue? How can I restore my info without restoring the bug?

Mac, iPhone OS 3.0.1, Original iPhone

update: I tricked my phone by restoring my phone & then charging the battery completely. Once fully charged, then I updated from a backup. My phone was back with a full battery. And, for some reason, when I plugged it in, it charged properly. But, that only lasted a couple of days. The issue is back. Time to restore the phone again.

No one else has this issue?

Well, I found 2 other tricks get my phone charged.

#1 turn off the phone (Power & home button until the off slider appears) then plug it in. It charges properly.

#2 never let the phone go into sleep mode. Just press the home button every few seconds. I did this while driving home, it never went into trickle charge mode. As soon as I stopped & let it sleep - it went into trickle charge mode.

OK, this isn't a discussion as much as it's my monologue, but I'm going to keep documenting my issues somewhere. Latest Update:
I finally restored my phone.
I also got 3.1.2 installed.
I turned the phone off (using power & home button, then the off slider) & let it charge overnight.
I restored my last backup onto the phone.
I updated the carrier settings.
I reset my phone using power & home until the phone reset.
Now - I hope the software issue that prevents my phone from charging is fixed.

modular747, thanks for the comment. I wish those steps fully helped, but my main issue isn't solved yet. Is there a solution for an iPhone that won't charge - that stays stuck in trickle charge? If so, please tell me, because after all the stuff I've been through - my iphone still won't charge. Now, I've found a workaround, but it's not very convenient because my phone is completely off - so I can't get calls while I charge my phone.

I disagree because this issue doesn't exist if I don't restore my backup. If I restore the phone, it works fine. If I add my last backup to it, it won't charge. If it was just a hardware issue, adding my backup files to the iphone wouldn't affect it. I'm trying to not just start over with my phone & lose all of the information & history in my apps. The problem is not intermittent. If I have my backup, 100% of the time it won't charge. If I don't add my backup & leave it with a fresh restore, 100% of the time it works & can charge.

I am admitting defeat & not bringing on my backup, but setting it up as a new phone. My theory is that my backup is causing the problem, so there's nothing left to do but test it. Goodbye apps memory & settings (especially game scores & progress). I figure, I'll try this a day or so & then close this out either as positively resolved, or bad news, phone is broken.
