Extremely noisy fans

Just bought a new Mac Pro 2.66 Quad Xeon for our studio. It's the noisiest ***** we've ever had. Installing something from a CD/DVD or simply connecting a FireWire cable will set off the fans at the following speeds (iStat):
PCI: 799
Boost A: 4001
Exhaust: 2764
Power Supply: 599
Intake: 3789

(With NO application running!)

I bought this Mac for professional music purposes. Its noise is the only thing that's professional about it (but not really what we want). The local warranty service tells me there is nothing wrong with the Mac. If that's so, this will be the last Apple computer we'll ever buy (we have been Mackistas since 1987).

Help!!!!!

I recently installed the smcfancontroller and it is weird what I am finding out. When my fans are on full force they are running between 3k and 4.5k with a temperature of 43 C. When they are not running and I just have them at the normal 1.5k I set it to after an smc reset, the temp stays at 26 C.

It runs cooler when the fans are consistent.

God it is loud. Going to reset the smc again...

All. I had similar issues with my Mac, until yesterday. The heat-sink was replaced finally, resulting in a stable temperature as displayed in iStat. Carry in your Mac to a solution provider (adviced by Apple Care) and ask to look for sensor issues on the processor. It takes some time before your Mac is returned, but finally they will fix it.
