Is there a way to completely undo all flex time mods to an audio file?
I have an audio drum track that i thoroughly destroyed messing around with flex time and audio quantizing. I believe these are nondestructive edits, but i can't find anyway to get it totally back to its original state. Is this possible?
I think quite a few of us have done this (I know I have). To get rid of the quantizing, just set it to the "off" setting in the Region Parameter Box as you would a MIDI track.
For the Flex Time edits, right or control-click on your Flex Time markers and choose "return to original time" from the sub-menu. (I haven't tried this, but I think you should be able to select all the Flex markers at once with your key command for "select similar objects.")
You can use the Eraser Tool to quickly remove all Flex markers. But make sure not to click in the upper part of the region because then you may accidently erase the region instead.
The problem that I've run into is that when you import audio, but don't have the project's tempo set accordingly, the flex time is going to be off as well. For things to work as expected the original audio and the projects tempo have to match before you activate flex.
i recorded this track in Logic so it wasnt an import. I think i got it pretty thoroughly screwed up. all the flex markers are gone, quantize is off, and its still messed up. :/
it sounds like it should have already been fixed with deleting the flex markers but if not have you tried reimporting the original file from your audio bin?
also how does it sound are you sure its a flex time prob?
I just tried to reimport it and its the same. its definitely been modified it sounds horrible. i must have exported it or saved it somehow. i never bounced it. hrmmm
looks like a rerecord and a live and learn. backup the originals!
Have you imported the original file from your hard drive?
Flex is non distructive.
If you start a new project, save as and in the assets include the audio too.
So if you do a bounce in place, the new audio track is not permanently "flexed"? If so this makes no sense, there is no way to ease up on your processor by fixing the flex permanently as in PT...
No you can bounce in place and ease processing..
but thats still non-destructive cause logic creates a new file.
I'm sure our friend has a file about somewhere just doesn't know how to get to it
TXBDan are you looking for the audio file name thats the same as your region file?
If so than try remembering what the original file was called and look for that.
if you can't remember the name than try organise the files by date in your audio file folder and checking the files that were created on the day of the recording..
yeh. i've even opened every aiff file in my Project's directory with Quicktime and the drum one is messed up. every other file is a different track. I looked in the backups and undo data too but no luck. i must have somehow bounced it.. but i really don't think i did. :/
