Ipod Locked Forever??

Somebody has used it and set the Passcode Lock on it. If you don't know the passcode, you'll need to restore it, either from your backup or not.

You keep saying password, but do you mean passcode which is a 4 digit number?

I still think you need to restore.

can this restore be done from any itunes? somebody swiped my phone and i am hoping it can only be done from the comp it was sync'd to

Yes, a restore can be done from any computer but it completely wipes the phone and installs the latest firmware. Since they don't have your backup, you don't have to worry about any personal info that was on the phone, assuming you had Passcode Lock enabled for the whole phone, not just Restrictions.

Yes, you need iTunes to restore, anyone's iTunes.

Are you asking a question or making a statement? Earlier you said you could connect. When you connect your ipod to your computer and launch itunes does it show up as a connected device in itunes or not? If so what happens when you try to do a restore from itunes?

You asked if you needed iTunes to restore, I said yes. You're all over the place. First you say you connect and now you say you don't. Perhaps if you explain what you can and can't do in a few sentences we can help you.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to the iPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode but your data will not be present.
