iPhone can't forward messages with attachments

My problem is when I receive an email with an attachment I can view the attachment but can't forward the attachment. Example, I receive an email with pictures. I can view all pictures in the email but when I try to forward the email the person that gets the email only gets the text portion. The pictures do not forward. The received email shows where the pictures should be but only small question marks appear. Why does this happen? How can this be fixed?... Yes, I am including attachments from original message.
This is even more of a problem when I send from an iPhone to another iPhone.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

I am having the exact same issues and I have tried it from 3 different email providers and forwarded emails from several people who do not use the same email provider. I have contacted Apple support a week ago and cannot get an answer as to why this happens. First they said who I was using for email provider but since I tried 3 different ones, not the problem. The tech has sent this to an engineer for further review but still no solution. The engineer said he hasn't heard of this problem but from reading this forum I see I am not the only one having the issues. Hopefully it will be corrected soon. I like you can see the downloaded images when I am forwarding but the receiving person never sees them. I also select "include" when I am forwarding (another question to me from the engineer) so the answer is yes I select "include" and they still don't forward. I have updated all the software even the newest from October 8, 2009. Still didn't fix it.

Two of us have the same problem and have experimented with it some. Unfortunately it seems pretty random. Our experiments today were with simple jpg pictures we had taken on a digital camera (no modifications). The problem is always with the forwarding function from the iPhone. Sometimes we could see the jpg after being forwarded from our iPhone and sometimes we could not. One message my son sent me I opened on the iPhone first and then in Windows Mail thinking the same file would go to both devices. My iPhone could see the jpg but my PC had the red X. Later I forwarded one to my son and he tried the same thing with his Apple laptop. In that instance, his laptop could see the jpg but his iPhone could not. We just couldn't get a consistent definition of the problem but something is wrong with the forward function in emai when there are attachments involved.

Josh...you are not missing anything here...Michael is!!

I have the same problem since updating to software right b4 mms was launched.
My other iphone has 2. soemthing version and works fine. I am not sure why Apple is having a hard time understanding the issue unless there are too many Michael's working there. I would like a partial refund of my data plan from Apple as it is not an AT&T issue. My local Apple store said Apple is aware of the issue and working on it. This has been since beginning of October. Go figure!!!

Had the same issue recently. Here is how I resolved it.
Go to the settings in gmail (web version).

Under the general settings make sure the following are set:
Browser connection: "HTTPS"
Outgoing message encoding: "Use Unicode (UTF-8) encoding for outgoing messages".

My messages forwarded from gmail (including attachments and embedded objects) on the iphone now work just fine.

this is the same problem that I'm having. It doesn't seem the phone because I got another phone and still have the same problem. It doesn't seem to be the email server because I can send from my laptop using the same account.but not from my phone. I'm wondering if it is something in an update that is sent to the phone? have done restore that dosen't work either.

I am having the same problem, I had forwarded several emails and the same thing- No attachments! I have found a solution that works for me, it may not be forwarding but it works none the less. When I receive an email that I want to forward I simply click on the picture and it asks if you want to save the individual photo or the number of photos included in the email. I select the number then leave my email and go into the camera roll and select all of the attachments that came with the original email. At this point simply share the photos with whomever you would like adding contacts and send it. It has worked every time. As for the photos, I delete them from my phone once I am finished. Hope that helps.
