using my epson cx6600 printer with my mac book pro?

my mac book pro won't work with my old cx6600 epson printer. apple has not installed this driver as a default. i have tried reinstalling the discs that the printer came with and i have tried downloading the relevant drivers from the internet, still nothing works. am i downloading the wrong drivers? i don't want to have to buy a new printer just because apple thinks mine is too outdated to be on the mac book pro! help.

I'll try that. Epson sent me an email this morning about not being able to scan with the CX6600. They said "I'm sorry to hear about your driver issue. Currently we don't have any information regarding drivers for your scanner. There is no ETA as of yet. The printer driver has been provided by Apple via an OS bundled option. Please check back with us periodically for driver status. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you again for contacting Epson. Eric S"

I am at a complete loss. I have spent 7 hours trying to get my CX6600 to scan. I have tried downloading and installing/uninstalling/reinstalling this:

http://esupport.epson-europe.com/FileDetails.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=nKGrQtfEm6noXtj kqySEOKDNd1ZUFHMLlJp7NTGELU002FAU003D&id=317970

As instructed by Epson online help.

I have installed Rosetta from the install disc, as instructed in order to run the Epson installer, and yet the Epson Scan app does not show up in my Applications menu. It does not show up using Spotlight Search. Yet the install was apparently 'successful'.

I have also installed http://support.apple.com/kb/DL900 but exactly what it did aside from use up another hour of battery time I do not know.

Can someone PLEASE write an idiots guide as to how I can scan some photos from my CX6600 onto this MacBook Pro?

I have removed the printer from Print and Fax preferences countless times which has done nothing. It re-adds itself automatically which makes me think there must be a way of uninstalling the driver so the MBP forgets it completely, however I can't find a sentence anywhere which can tell me how to do that.

This is my last hope, I'm trying to put some hard photos onto a memory card which will then go into a Digital Photo frame for my Mum's Christmas present, but typically, the Epson wont recognise the genuine SD card so I am now trying (and failing) to get the photos scanned onto here first.

Sorry for the rant but please help!

Unfortunately the CX6600 is doomed not to function as it should with Snow Leopard. I am looking it up for the last two days now and this is the conclusion that I have reached.

In this article concerning EPSON products and Snow Leopard ( http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ViewArticle.aspx?lng=en-GB&kbid=324694&data=nKG rQtfEm6noXtjkqySEOKDNd1ZUFHMLlJp7NTGELU002FAU003D ), EPSON states that for Snow Leopard one should use the drivers installed in the system (meaning from the Install DVD of Snow Leopard and then from the update you mentioned above).

But, if you search for CX6600 in that page, you will see that only printing is supported and not scanning.

I am trying to find a solution as well, but I think that there won't be any.
