you can't change that without jailbreaking. when you 'change a background' on the iPod touch it refers to the screen that comes up when the screen is locked.

hey there. my ipod touch was jail broken before, when the itunes came out with applications i restored my ipod and un-jail broke it i guess. i changed my background using customize and apparently i left the "lockbaground" option on. i no longer have access to customize or any apps like that, from what i know. anyways i recently got a new ipod and just updated it, and the background is exactly the same as it was before and it still wont change. i can set a new background all i want but it doesn't change. someone needs to help pleassseeee. thank you and i appreciate it dearly.

no im talking about the background when the ipod is locked
Settings > General > Wallpaper doesn't get you what you want? You should be able to choose from the imbedded wallpapers or your photo album.
nope it's still the same background i had on my jailrbroken ipod from last year and wont change
my ipod touch wont change backgrounds, does anyone know how to fix it??
